Yeah I met Neil when he was in DC with CH and he was just a regular guy. He even took some CDs of a great local group Starbelly who is very CH influenced.

This is one of the finest songs Neil has ever crafted. It meant a lot to me when I heard it initially whilst living in London. I had the pleasure of seeing Neil many times tho never with CH. This song is from his last solo album "One Nil" (europe) and "One All" (US)... the song you're thinking of is "Lester", also available as a vid clip here, and available on CD on the Crowded House album, "Afterglow", which is a compilation of songs that didn't make the cut for one reason or another on their other albums. I love that you can tell which songs were recorded for the diff albums by the sound and the feel.

I just love this song, but there used to be another performance of it, it was a girl from the audience that came up on stage to play the three notes on the piano, I think that version was great too. Anyone knows where to find it now?

It's Lisa Germano, she worked on the album with him, toured with him for his last solo album. She's better known as the Lisa part of Wendy & Lisa, used to play keyboard for Prince, back when Wendy was his guitarist. One of the two of them had a brother that played keyboard for Smashing Pumpkins before he died.
