I think everybody knows he isn't a particular "star" signing. He's just coming in to reinforce the midfield as Xavi is 30ish and iniesta sometimes plays up front, and Pep probably wants another iniesta-type(i know there's no comparison) in his squad.

Lets remember big signings like Ibrahimovic and Chygrynski flopped while a small signing such as maxwell was probably the best signing last time round.

Also if you follow Thiago who'll be promoted soon, you'll realise why no "star" signing is needed

I think he's going to bench in Barca. I mean yes, he's speedy and has a pretty good ball control, he's somewhat creative, but he doesn't have the strongest strike out there. Also, he looks down too much and would probably look less for passing opportunities, unlike A. Iniesta, for example. Just my two cents :P

He is not. Probably in the beginning. But Barca plays many games per year and Iniesta/Xavi have to rest occasionally. Plus: injuries can happen. Plus: if barca misses Messi they need someone else to get the ball to the strikers. Affelay has a fabulous pass. Mark my words: he will learn and adapt and within 1 or 2 years he will be one of the starting eleven.

i think i know, why you would rather have Afellay than Fabregas, Afellay is more multifunctional, he can play almost every midfield/attack position, left wing, right wing, playmaker, controlling midfielder, hes faster, scores more, and he is cheaper because his contract is ending, and he keeps getting better.
