  • I thought her hair was blonde. I heard it was red but I couldn't believe it.

  • I hope one day they turn the sepia tone scenes in The Wizard Of Oz in color, so we can find out if the witch in the tornado is the witch of the east or west or wearing the ruby slippers.

  • It's weird in color.

  • Imagine going back in time and telling Fred about the $5 footlong. He'd rage.

  • i luv this show !!!

  • Holy crap, can you imagine $5 bucks for an xmas tree??

  • @MariSan88 Well, $5 by 1950s standards was a lot :)

  • I wonder if the clothes and walls were really those colors? Was ethels dress really purple? Its pretty cool that they could make it any color they wanted

  • Watching it in color is fun! It`s different...we all know they were black and white and will remain so...so just kick back and enjoy...

  • when i was growing up we always put up are tree on christmas eve.

  • why would ANY put up the holiday tree on Christmas Eve?????????

  • @kduideo people used to leave them up longer. My family left ours up til January 6th. Now, I take it all down the next day.

  • Lucy & Ricky look older in color. Ethel & Fred look better. lol

  • @HOTasICEx21 OMG I thought of that too!!

  • This is great coloring!

I wish I knew what program was used for this, because I am wanting to try film colorization, but it seems hard.

  • Not the same in color.

  • Would love to know the process if how they colorize old b&w shows. I prefer the show in b&w

It's a complex process involving humans and computer. Computers currently cannot automatically find outlines when they are fuzzy or complex, i.e. hair on the face. Different companies use different techniques, Basically, you first define all the distinct shapes, have the computer fill them taking into account ambient light, and track the shapes as they move.

Look up "film colorization" on Wikipedia.

That's the great thing about colorization. You can always turn down the color on your TV if you want to watch in B&W. While those who grew up watching it in B&W generally prefer the original, many many young people refuse to watch anything B&W, including classic movies. The MTV generation like flashy colors and lots of movement. he same can be said for eReaders. Older users like eInk on the original Kindle, while younger ones like LCD.

  • 1 person preferred it in Black and White

  • damn if only i had some ketchup and chips right now

  • Was this originally filmed in color?

  • They waited until Christmas Eve to put up the tree?

  • I dont like it in color.

  • Wow, this is so cool, and so weird, at the same time! :) Never seen "I Love Lucy" in color before.

  • i love how ricky waved that cigarette in front of little ricky's face all kinds of crazy...terrible. if that happened on TV now-a-days, people would get sued.

  • Seeing this in color is trippy!

  • i love this one video and because this is for christmas day! Yummy... LOL

  • their explanations are genius

  • was 5 dollars a lot back than

  • @Iamalwayswinning Wasn't a LOT, but it was certainly worth something.

  • In black and white that apartment is gorgeous,

    in color..... shew. lol

  • i love this. i love how i can see what color their apartment is, the color of Lucy's hair, the color of her lips, the color of Desi's skin, everything. the original black and white has its charm of course, but when you watch it in black and white; there's always that curiousity: " i wonder what color her dress is" " i wonder what color the Tropicana is!" i wish there was an option on the DVDs to switch from black and white and color, but sadly there isnt' one to the extent of my knowledge.

  • the color of the tree should have been a little darker, but still pretty good :)

  • The colorized version is nice but the B W version is a little better guess cause its what we're use 2, i watch both every december i make this a part of of holiday viewing all month long nothing but christmas & i do have ALOT of chistmas themed shows, its not chsristmas if i don't watch this episode!! 1:33 this is the most odd reason i've heard 4 kids needing 2 go 2 bed b 4 santa comes i;ve ever heard 2:37 the how story is odd 2, I put my tree up the day after thanksgiving & every other decor

  • Excellent colorizing job. Even Lucy's lips are colorized. I love it!

  • Am I the only one who finds this episode a little creepy. It's not the color as I've seen the B&W version too. It's just something's not right.

  • This show looks so much better in color.

  • Do not colorize. It's not necessary.

  • @TIPTON340 Don't tell that to the uploader, tell it to the producers who made the DVD XD

  • I'm pretty sure the furniture was blue... not green.... nice try.

  • @psygn0sis Im not so sure my grandparents furniture was the same shade of green w low style arm rest like on the ricardos they had it 4 yrs!!

  • @psygn0sis i meant FOR YEARS

  • i miss i love lucy alot

  • Not used to seeing this in color......I prefer B&W .....& a 5$ tree "not anymore"

  • It was nice to see 1 episode in colour, just to see how everybody and everything looked.

But I still prefer the old B&W format. It makes the show look more nostalgic, authentic.

Does anyone agree with me that the colorized version makes the RIcardo's and Mertz's look older ??

  • "Nothing the tree cost five bucks"

  • I like it :)

  • hey dude, it wont dl can you fix it? It gets stuck toward the end

  • lol so creepy. definitely better in black and white

  • @redsoxfan1 - Nah, color gives so much more unfortunately, this color is fake

  • still sticks during dl at the end won't dl

  • the end of the this part one will NOT download it freezes up

  • It's interesting how bland the background was since color wasn't generally neccessary.

  • oh poor little ricky having to inhale all the smoke from ricky's cigarette....

  • @SirMusicalGerry Yeah... look at his face at 1:46

  • Seeing in color is different. Get to see what color everything really is,lol.

  • the show isn't the same in color, watcing it in black and white is what makes it so great

  • @7fire7ice7 i was thinking the same thing poor little ricky

  • @7fire7ice7 I am 22 I like it in Color and Black and white

  • @7fire7ice7 Yes. I agree. There's something very odd about watching this in color.

  • I spoke too soon. :)

  • OK, so where's the piano and the furniture?

  • Comment removed

  • the walls were blue! lol

  • today i dyed my hair red so that i coud be like lucy :D it was all in fun though im not trying to make myself like her hahaha by the way is there a bit missing from this clip? the bit where lucy starts to explain what happened when she got pregnant with itte ricky?

  • @julie11061 The author of the video edited out the flashback scenes.

  • @kwebster62 no they were already out, when the episode was colorised, the scenes were taken out.

  • im still waiting for this to load, so i haven't even started watching it yet but i know im going to love it SOO much!! I Love Lucy <3 :) It'll be great to see this in colour thankyou so so so much for uploading this!!! :D

  • This. I freakin' LOVE I Love Lucy. I wish I could've been around in these times. Lucille Ball <3

  • Why do people on TV shows always put boards on the bottom of the tree? That way, the poor tree can't get any water, And the things already dried out.

  • thanks :D you're awesome, i love this show
