I have the same experince, growing being deaf and have difficult time with the hearing people. I learnt the true colors of the hearing people, I have to avoid the uneducated people. I don't try to waste my time with my family when I am needed. I prefer to live my solitude life and I hardly could get around with the deaf people, even hearing people. I do fine by myself.. Very good video.
can one of you help me? i know my alphabet but not my symbols PLEASE HELP THANKS! (if you can it would be really helpful if you put up a video) but its your choice TY!
Now my story is different I was born to wonderful and supportive parents that were deaf and I felt like the outcast because I could here. Sign was my first language I didn't learn english until I started kindergarden. I now am a teacher in a hearing impared school and I love it at first I thought growning up I was defective and didn't understand that not everyone was deaf now I feel bilingual!
Finally, found other deaf person that has same experience. I have same experience. My parents knows ASL, but still. I'm tired of asking my sister (my sister is the best interpreter, heh) what are going on, news. Now look at me, I'm on computer, all my family having fun, chitchating. ALso I live in a city called Calgary, not much deaf community like USA. Also I realized, what is affects my personal - shyness, don't know how to recite very well. Thank you for sharing your experience.
yes agree with you,it is very hard to fit in hearing family and left out.I am only one deaf in family too and all left me out as well and had to go through this and it is not good for child to go through.I have hard time to express my feeling and share with my hearing family which also no good but they raise me like that, yes same my family actually do not know who I am and what I like and life style, they do not know which is VERY SAD,they could put up effort and get to know me but choose NOT.
I know how you feel left out in hearing family as well as I do feel left out in hearing family that is the most difficult phrase for every of us deafies.. Thank you for your strenght to give us good advice..
You aren't only one who were frustrating with hearing family. Same with me and also deaf friends. My hearing mom moved here to live with us (my husband also deaf). We social with deaf alot. Mom gave up after 1 yr and half cuz she realized she need hearing people to talk with. I bet she realized how I felt when I was younger. Thanks for sharing !

Being deaf is not an excuse for feeling left out. No one can give you everything. You have to grab the bull by the horns and do it yourself! Don't dwell in self pity! NO ONE is stopping you from sampling everyting life has to offer! If someone is standing in my way, that makes me more determined to do something!
yes i understand i know wht its like to be deaf im someone that finds it hard to fit in the the hearing world and in the deaf world because I am in between
yeah.. this is actually makes me so sad, even cry a bit. I am completely understand how you are feeling, how you were through.. Because i'm in your shoes, too. Well, actually, I'm very happy that my family knows sign language but it's not very great skill they had. WE still have a bond between of them and myself, but, yeah.. i hate to be left out all the time, not so healthy, y'know. :/
Thank you for sharing a personal part of your life. I know it helps other deaf people in hearing families that share the struggle, and it also helps us hearies understand better.
It is sad to hear about your feeling to frustrate with your commication. But You are very brave woman to stand with God. Other deaf are feeling same way, it is diffcult to commicate with the hearing world and families. I cannot explain what I said. It is tough life. I dont know how what I say. YOu are good point to the answer. Tc

You should try talking but not actually letting sound out. Lip Reading isn't that hard if it's clear :)

flickhead: Nothing wrong with your speakers. Or just in case, you are insulting her. If you are doing this, enough of that, get a life. Thank you.

You are not alone. Same as me. I was very lonely because my family talk more than me.
I went to deaf church and talk more.
I understand how you feel. Same as mine.
