@jettramel You will need the electronic parts and a set of instructions. You might check the various kit vendors on the Internet (do a Google search) to see if they will sell you only the part you need. Another way to go is to obtain a parts list (Again, a Google search should do it) and a wiring diagram with instructions from the Internet. Good luck. Let me know how it works out.
thx very much for posting this! i had often wondered what the experience of byoc pedals would be like and now i feel i have an idea! thx so much for taking the time to do the diligence and help so many of us avoid frustration - YOU ROCK!
@chuckp235 Hi. Thanks for your kind words. Glad you found the video useful. I enjoy making these instructional videos for a number reasons. As a former teacher, I like helping people and showing them how to do things. As a hobbyist, I enjoy doing these projects myself. In doing them, I've found a new hobby - producing videos. It all adds up to lots of fun.
@mark40414 Hi Mark. The components for both variants come with the kit. I built my pedal to 250+ specs. You can choose to build either one, but the circuits are very similar.
@00DirectorsCut00 The 250+ is the first and only pedal that I've built. If you look around, I'm sure you will find ideas on what type of pedal to build. You might want to look at General Guitar Gadgets pedals to see if any of their kits fill the bill.
Thanks Lou for the great video. I'm thinking on a diy build ( a GGG BSIAB2)- it would be my first build. I wonder if I should build an easier one?? Are they hard to build? Thanks -
@Guitarbque Hi. Thanks for your message. I looked at the GGG BSTAB2, and it looks a lot like my 250+ on the inside. The primary difference is that the input and output jacks are at the top of the box near the control knobs rather than on the side. It definitely looks simple enough to build. I suggest you download the instructions and look them over carefully to be sure that they are good. (Build Your Own Clone instructions are very complete and easy to follow.)
@Guitarbque (Part 2) I think the BSTAB2 would be a good pedal with which to start. Follow my suggestions and get yourself a soldering stand with alligator clips, a lighted magnifier, and a soldering pencil. Watch my video a few times before you start. And most important, practice, practice, practice your soldering. Keep practicing until you can do a very neat connection. (There are soldering instruction videos on YouTube. Watch them.)
Best wishes and good luck. Let me know how it goes.
All I can say, Lou, is that you're a better man than I am to be able to hold that A-bar chord for the better part of 3 minutes without cramping-up...ROFL. JUST KIDDING! That's a cool little box you made there.
Very helpful advice for a beginner - I'm definitely gonna have a go at making one - no previous experience at all - could you say how long it took you to make it from scratch?
Hi. Thanks for watching. After my first experience, I took my time. It probably took me two days to assemble it once I learned how to solder. You can probably do the PCB and small components in one day and solder all the connections the second.
Since you are new to this, practice your soldering A LOT. That way, you won't have to order a second pedal as I did. Good luck and let me know how it turns out.

Hi. Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you liked my video. I had fun making it. I also had fun building the pedal. Although it was frustrating the first time, in the end, my 250+ came out real nice.
Louis I need a kit for an MXR distortion II I have the case it has 4 knobs, just wondering what would work in this box. thanks I enjoyed the video.

IS THIS A DISTORTION OR AN OVERDRIVE
Angelos11111998 1 year ago
@Angelos11111998 The DOD 250 is generally described as an Overdrive/Preamp. It doesn't have the harshness of a distortion pedal.

For a future project you could try putting a set of Bare Knuckle nailbombs on an epiphone les paul. now that would sound really good!!!

What is a Bare Knuckle nailbomb???
Farbocaster 1 year ago
@Farbocaster they are a really good set of pickups

Glad you like them. They are definitely "hot." You might want to take a look at the Squier rebuild to see how they were installed.
