Good track and showing some thought and passion. and @northwales1969 - he is right it does take a community to raise a child; that is where this country has gone wrong; if you do not have a true community then things like this happen when tensions overspill. If there was a stronger community then it wouldn't happen; it's all of our responsibility; you are right that you cannot just blame "the system" - everyone needs to take responsibility, if the govt doesn't provide then we must provide.

It has dislikes becuase it is so bad. This person is attemting to justify the riots by blaming everthing on the government, the police, the system, the media, everyone except themselves. It doesnt take a community to raise a child, it takes but 1 or people, ie the parent (s). The riots happened within the system, even if you only consider there effects rather than their cuases: they will cause insurance premiums to rise, allow police to increase their powers, leave people homless etc. This is a success in your view?

Sure, it was scum who burned down small businesses and residential areas, but it's also scum who run the country. Theft is only a problem when it's the poor who do it. The Banks and Bankers have stolen the future of entire generations, and yet they get bailed out and given bonuses. Who's going to bail out the youth sitting in cells this evening?

However, the fact it was so over shadowed by the theft and arson on shops, many of which were family owed not corporate business', perhaps highlights this wasn't their main target. If their complaint is about benefits being cut or a lack of ema, perhaps part time employment is the answer. Their time and efforts could have been put to far better use, and needn't destroy the livelihood of individuals with no direct tie to the government.

@jackmitch The rioters were not protestors, they had no specific agnda.I think what young Deacon is attempting to highlight is not that the riots were legitimate protestors, rather the conditions that made these people so selfish and hatefull as to willingly attack their own community. They aren't just animals who were born looting and rioting, they are hopeless individuals living in one of the most unequal societies in the world.
