Why? How about these numbers: A 2000 sq Ft. home in the USA uses Avr. 1000 KWH a month. That's about $115. In 30 years with 7% inflation, that's $78,000 total. At current prices you can get a 6 KW PV solar system for $12,000. That produces 1000 KWH a month. When you sell your house, you get 2-3X the solar hardware cost back (plus inflation). During the up to 40 year ownership of the system, every dollar of electricity you produced will have been free. Oh, you get 30% Fed Tax cash back too...now.
