i was a newbie and i stole everything without that glitch of course i got caught but if you leave the town for a few hours they wont fine you

if there is only one or two items you want to steal, and there are no baskets around (or too many people in the room), simply carry the item (like how you carry the basket) to a different room with no one inside, then you can steal without getting caught.

@NorwegianYognaught And adding onto papometer146's comment, hold the action button otherwise known as E (on the PC) for a second or two. Release E (once again, for PC version) and now you have the item in your grasp. To let go of the item, simply press E again.

Im guessing that X on the Xbox is also the action button.

Sometimes I think Bethesda deliberately glitched the game so that people would spend endless hours trying to find them like a game of I Spy. In this case, there really isn't any other use for baskets and buckets....except to glitch the shopkeeper.

Then just do what you want with it (Move the right analog stick to move it and left to move with it) don't run for too long while holding something or it will "fall" out of your "hands" (If you're in third person view you wont see your guy holding his arms out for the item, items just float infront of him)
