You are right sfden50 it is never going to get this good again!! Judy is Gorgeous in black and white! Its funny now but just like Elvis she shook her hips and dipped and boy oh boy the camera's swing away from her.Its very sexy and not allowed in 1963!! I want to go back!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would have done anything for a ticket to see the Queen Miss Judy Garland R.I.P. baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Much love Barb...
So true no one nor nothing out there has the class that she gave. She lived every song she ever sang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! R.I.P. the one and only Judy Garland . Loving you still Barb...
@Aptitude Actually I am a Psychologist! Put your face back down to your mother's cunt and pay careful attention to her clit. That really gets her off. I know.
@markbob120 If you really are a Psychologist, then it's very frightening to know that a person like yourself, is in the field of Mental health, whose job is to help and care for others. This all stemmed from one post that I made that Judy Garland didn't care for the Song "I could go on singing" After the film was made and the promtional tour ended, Judy never sang the song again. She said the Lyrics were ridiculous & didn't make sense. Judy did sing the other songs well after the movie was made.
@Aptitude I was very surprised by markbob120's reply. It was completely off base . I just told the truth that she didnt like the Title song and after she promoted the film, she sang every other song in the movie except "ICGOS" Judy was correct when she said the song made no sense and the words were silly. But Judy was apro and she knew she had to do her best to promote her film. I am a mature adult and that reply I received was way off base. I wish I could report the nut.
Judy Garland in sublime form at The Palladium singing the definitive "Smile" that she sang to great effect in many live sixties appearances and love the way Judy has rowdy fun with "I Could Go On Singing" where she prances & clowns in her sophisicated way and shows off that powerful rich belting voice that has got to be the greatest ever...Bravo Judy!!!
We're so lucky to have these recordings - gay or straight these are great songs expertly sung by a true prima diva assoluta of this kind of music. Just great.
Judy looked incredible here, She lost the weight and her voice was amazing especially when she sang "Smile" Judy really didnt likesinging "I Could go on Singing" the words were very silly and when you listen to her sing it she does a great job but the words are really bad. It proves Judy can make Magic even with a badly written song. I wish I could have experienced a Garland performance in person. Everyone who seen her said it was a huge sensational thrill!
@NFitalianGuy She actually loved the song cause it's a real belters song. You area a fuckin idiot who doesn't know what you are talking about.Go lick the oliveoil off your mothers clit you dumb dego!
@markbob120 Your hate speech shocked me because I can't believe people like yourself still exist. Your Parents failed miserably at raising their children because it's apparent by the reply you left. If ignorance is bliss, then I'm sure you're living a life of pure ecstasy. To attack my family heritage & insulting my Mother with such vulgar words just shows what a crashing Boor, you really are. Look the word "Boor" up & You just may see your picture. FYI Judy only sang ICGOS to promote the film.
@markbob120 Your replies no longer effect me. It has to be very obvious to most people on youtube that you have many deep seeded issues only a medical Dr. along with some form of medication can get you the help you desperately need. I can only Pity, someone like you because it must be a sad existance to go around with such malice and hatred in your heart and mind. The way you keep attacking me and my family means there is more going on in your troubled mind. I will Pray for your Mental health.
@markbob120 WOW, Your comment is extremely offensive & Why the need to attack my Mother? FYI, if you're going to insult someone by using an ethnic slur, You might want to make sure that you spell the word correctly. Your folks failed you as parents because You are a crashing Boor! I bet you don't know what a Boor is. If ignorance is bliss then you must live life in the state of ecstasy. BTW, Judy only sang ICGOS to promote the film. She never sang it again after it was released.
This is one of the best, simply her finest hour....one of those that will never be duplicated by anyone.. the quality of HER talent at the Paladium, was her night to SING...it was the perfect audience to witness this, my great uncle was there>>>> and said people were literally pulling the seats out of the floor and just wanted more all night....more and more, she just kept singing..Love you so much...Harold in Wheeling>>>>> OMG!!!!! What a voice..!!!!.
On a Sunday the 22nd of June 1969, The World woke up to the News of Judy Garland's death. The news sent shock waves across the entire planet & for the 7 days the media paid homage to " A Great Lady who had the Ultimate Interview"! Judy, Your fans still mourn your passing. I have the comfort of knowing your spirit was embraced by GOD & that HE showed you HIS infinite peace & all that heaven has too offer you. U brought a lot of joy to me & I thank God for creating you. RIP on this 6/22/10
This is just fabulous! Thank you so much for this:) I think that "I could go on singing" is a great, how shall put it, novelty song. It's meant to be a fun fun. It's not supposed to be profound like "The man that Got Away". Lots of people don't take to the number, but I think--contextually--it fit perectly! Of course no where else did Judy sing Chaplin's "Smile" to such great effect! THanks again:)
She was in amazing form here...I just wish she had performed Hello Bluebird instead of I could Go On Singing, for the second number ( that song really bugs me)!
dirtyblondny ..WOW ..how fortunate you were to see her live ...oh, what I would give to have seen her in person ..I bet you just got goosebumps all over ..I think the cancellation of her TV show devestated her and she never recovered from it ..Thanks for the comments ...xo
Judy had thinned down at this point to get ready for her CBS weekly show. I saw her at the Palace in NYi 1967. Her voice was not as good as it was in 1963. It was heartbreaking almost. But I saw her alive and in person. It still was a thrill for me.
I love it when she throws the mic cord around her shoulder ...Oh, what I would have given to have seen her live !! Thank you for this posting kaatjeaster ..and God Bless Judy Garland !! xo
SMILE ..That;'s all I do when I hear her sing...She is PERFECTION and without question, the world's Greatest Entertainer !! She has no equal, no peer , in a class by herself...xoxoo
Beautiful rendition of "Smile"...Judy had a way of making a song her own and nobody elses. Also I prefer this version of "I could go on singing" to her Movie version.
now i know why the call her the world greatest entertainer. here is the proof. In 1999, the American Film Institute placed her among the ten greatest female stars in the history of American cinema. If you check the top 20 none are also singer....she was...plus broadway.
In addition to being vocally perfect, I would pay to see her walk to the music, the arm moving for dramatic gesture and there was not another who worked a mike cord like Judy. I've said it many times and I will always feel the same, she was the greatest star that ever stood on a stage.
This was when she was at her best. No competition, just her doing what she loved best and getting that love back from the audience. There is nothing in the world like it when it happens. Unfortunately sometimes it is hard to live when you aren't up there though.
That is the most heart-wrenching rendition of the song "Smile" that I've ever heard. Judy rocks you to your core. You'd have to be hollow not to be moved by this incredible talent.
I like this Judy era the best (early-mid 60's). She seemed to own the stage more than in some performances I've seen from the '50's (General Electric, for example). Her 1962 and '63 TV specials, as well as The Judy Garland Show represent (to me) her best work on stage.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Well, she's better here - but only slightly -
than in the shrill, embarrasingly insipid
finale of the film "I Could Go On Singing."
Certainly that film finale represents her
lowest moment on film, which, sadly, was also her last. Did Arlen ever write a more stupid song???? I doubt it. What a shame that Garland's legend is so entrenched in these god-awful '60s moments, when so many of her film performances and Decca records' recordings remain ignored. Credit pathetic
I agree that other singers have attempted this song and NO ONE captures the true essence of the song quite like JUDY GARLAND ~ there will never be another like her.
I have seen several prominent singers through the years attempt "Smile", but NONE of them ever came close to Judy's rendition of this great song. She sings it with the depth of emotion that only she could muster.
This to me is the greatest performance Judy ever gave on television. This performance of "Smile" never fails to make my eyes full up. She loved London and the Palladium and they adored her back. There has never been another in her league and never will.
I completley agree with Robert4770. This is among her greatest moments on television. I'm so grateful to hear the whole song finally. If anyone has doubts about her how can they possibly resist this stunning performance. She is a brilliant artist and reigns supreme among the greatest artists of the 20th century.
What I wouldn't give to have been there!...or at any performance by Judy come to that...Very well put together...And Thank you for such a wonderful treat !
