lifting your legs may help depending on if your apponent rolls away from you. if he rolls toward you his arm is closer to his chest making it harder to get the finish
if some one has the S grip and youre honestly not strong enough to pull that arm away just spider web and then pull on it. or just stick the bottom leg through and go for a triangle.
This technique makes no sense, there are various ways to get him to loosen his grip but lifting ur legs should not be one of them because he will just roll on you.
Graciefan21 is absokutley right. I was watchig this video and saying to myself, "OK... He's just going to escape now because you gave up all control of the person."
Im a wreslter. So I doubt ill use this escape. But to do a proper armbar. Over hook his arm So that its in your arm pit. Then go for a armbar. He cant reach his arm to grab it. Because its behind your back. =)
im not bashing it, it just wont work on any legit guy, very new people maybe. whats stopping him from bridging in and stacking you? nothing, no control of the head or hip. plain and simple
i think he was only focosing on the grip brake. i would sugest swiching the arm he's holding the arm with and then holding the close leg so he cant bridge or get to his kneese, then exectue the first technique he shows with one arm holding the armbar.
ah Its amazing,I got into a fight at a fair with this guy at the bathroom who wouldnt stop cussing, and tried to strike me,anyways thats what happend,he locked himself up like the first trick. what i did was simply take my heel and hit him in the mouth. until he broke the lock. Of coarse these are going by MMA rules that this video has.

Heel on the bicep or wrist lock is a better tech

Are both of those finishes legal in competitions like grapplers quest? obviously they are in black belt but in less expirenced divisions?

A new idea, might be worth trying:
- First shifting his arms from his chest towards his head (at least in that direction because it's harder to hold on to it there)
- Sliding your wrists across the nuckles with your right hand, while holding onto the arm with the left
- If the arm bar fails, stick your left hand around his neck from below, grab the suit and go for a strangle hold, also works as a distraction

If that happens in MMA, a heel to the head would do it
But if not, why not stick your foot under his neck and turn him towards his stomach?

you could have walked away, and if you were in my dojo you'd be gone by now for that stunt.

Yeah, while it's "good" that the counter worked for you, you really shouldn't be scrapping like that just for kicks.

... if he tried to hit you first then i see it as justified.
