I tried making the mask with modeling clay, it was perfect except when i let it dry it began to chafe and crack and it became super fragile. I don't want to use paper mache because I find it cheap and would ruin the illusion. what should i do?

actually I managed to finish the mask an its perfect. when a peace broke off I used super glue to put it back on and it stayed. I used air dry clay like befor, I was just a little more carful, it i not fragile either.

I agree, that's how I made Ichigo's and Shinj's but then after it was fired the masks tended to get heavier; thus you can't wear it but it's a perfect decoration for a wall. I fired both twice to get the shininess going. I'll post a video of the Shinji one I made soon..
