New K-SWISS commercial! K-SWISS and 72andSunny debut their new TV spot. Directed by Keith Schofield, "Awesome Day," represents all that's great about California - the sun, surf and its carefree nature. Music featured: "California Sun" by Henry Glover and Morris Levy, Performed by: Choir of young SoCal school students at Beacon Street Studios. This version of the song was recorded *exclusively* for K-SWISS!
@rusty44mag That was my husband you were listening to! He played keyboard on the ORIGINAL Rivieras "California Sun" that went platinum. He still has the first record pressed then. He and his pals (they enlisted and went to Vietnam together; he was the only original member who survived the sniper attack that killed his other three band members) were four Midwest boys fantasizing about the good life away from Ohio and Indiana's cold, dark winters. I showed him your comment -- he loved it!
Thanks for the feedback!..I moved from NYC to the beach of Santa Monica California, and I can tell ya first hand, THE SONG TAKES ON A WHOLE OTHER FEELING!, THEY NAILED IT!..I used to dream of feeling this good!
Marty Fortson (guitar/vocals for this band) is my grand-uncle or however you'd say that. My dad's mom's brother. My grandma Trish's (dad's mom) maiden name is Trish Fortson. I'm almost famous. :)
another very underated song.this is one of the best songs to come out of the 60's i think, one of the first i learned on guitar also,The Ramones did a good cover of it

Rivieras version - 1964.
Ramones version - 1977.
Who ripped off who, exactly?

Sorry, I was bored enough to try and see how many thumbs down I could get, to no avail I guess. I know that the Ramones came about long after them.

Gang only knows how to listen to great music, weather it comes from an old transistor radio at the beach, or a beat up 50's jukebox.

Didn't the gang tell you how to record audio?
