Every singer's/performer's voice is different and unique. It all comes down to what type of voice,sound,music and style (you) like. Any person that can get out there and try should get some credit.

The difference between her and the likes of Whitney, Mariah, etc, is that her bread and butter is performing while the queens of soul's talent is purely raw signing. Britney was smart and/or fortunate enough to surround herself with people who knew the difference and knew how to exploit it. Whitney would not have been as successful if she did the same style of performance at Britney anc vice versa.
