  • wery gud

  • I think its just WRONG that Mark Farner did not get paid equal to the other group members. Unequal pay is why Mark never can afford to buy a shirt.

  • Mark, Don, and Mel were all paid equally in that each held a 33.3% share in the corporation. It was Terry Knight that was significantly overpaid. I.e., on album sales he was drawing 16% when Mark, Don, Mel were only getting a 2% cut. You have to remember: GFRR was under contract to Knight and NOT to Capital Records.

  • definately one of the songs of the 70's that helped influence generatioins of rock songs to come.

  • Unos de mis temas preferidos en cuanto a musica porque no es ni tranqui ni maricon ni heavy pero bien duros para esa epoca.

  • Wow, what a great band!

  • The Drummer has the best lookin 'fro and fuckin mutton chops on the planet. I wish i could grow that kind of hair.

  • The F.U.'s did a great cover of this.

  • I remember buying this album, it originally came in a clear amber colored L.P.33. i still got it ,too.

  • "Virgin Vinyl" is that amber color you speak of. Only 100,000 were produced.

  • Grand Funk Railroad's "We're An American Band" is one serious hard rock song that crossed over onto the pop charts in 1973 and went straight to #1. This band from Flint, Michigan had a lot of great records from 1970-76, and gave me another reason to enjoy 70s rock.

  • great song

  • i see homer simpson rocking

  • haha they must have left a legacy, our marching band is playing this song this year!

  • That Drummer has a wicker fro. Great American Band

  • WEED AND BEER RULES !!!!

  • It's great being an American. Let's stand up for our freedoms and keep it that way.

  • Love God

    Read the Bible

    Salute the Flag

    Support American Soldiers

    Play Rock n' Roll!

  • This is probably the best example of a pure American Rock song! Nothing of british invasion stuff in it. Are there any other examples to comment on? Please post comments.

  • All of GFR(=Mark Farner)-songs from '69-2002/2003 fit that description

  • MORE COWBELL!!!! This song, Todd Rundgren-produced, rocks the house down!! I remember this song cranking during the summer, 1973, and EVERYBODY loved it. It became the most covered song by just about every garage-and-bar band almost immediately.

  • why didn't the made this song indeed.

  • they rock!! aly n aj's version's pretty good too :)

  • Love the fro! I wish my hair was as long, nice & shiny as Mark's.

  • lol @ hair... great classic song!

  • This the best Rock for all times!!!

Yeah!!! And very loud it's even better.

But do not smok and drug!!! Just enjoy the best Rock Music!!!

  • Grand Funk ROCKS.

    Happy 4th :D

  • no contemporary band can touch the genius of that golden era of rock

  • listen really loud,,,,

  • it is you.

  • I love the clips in the video, the guys hangin' out, just being guys. Hell, images don't get sweeter! You have hot men, on motorcycles or horses, long hair blowing in the wind, shirtless.......

You put [almost] everything I fing sexy in one video, everything that drew me like a magnet as a teenage girl, everything I'm still hot for today!

Thank you, BenKarbie so very much.

  • yeah, this is back when men were men

  • I Always Loved This Band(Grand Funk R.R.) Of Cause Aly & A.J. Made It A Hit All Over Again, They Are So Sexy!!

  • You know what, we're all an American band.

    Unless you're British.

  • Fuck the red wings

  • know what. FUCK U

  • Grohl has played drums and sung quite a few songs. Particularly on the Foos first album which he did all by himself in the studio. He has done a lot of covers that you will find him playing drums on...mostly though he sings and plays rhythm guitar now for the Foos and other projects....Phil Collins jumps out at me more than Grohl but he has done it

  • Dave Grohl also did the drums for the Nine Inch Nails album With Teeth and he filled in for the drummer in Queens of the Stone Age video "No One Knows" cause their drummer was in rehab lol.. Dave is a pretty versatile guy, singer songwriter drummer guitarist , also I saw Phil Collins play drums with Ozzy and Tony Iommi they were playing Paranoid in the video I saw it was pretty kick ass

  • I saw Collins play in late 80s with Clapton and it was amazing. The guy is an animal. You are right about Grohl and I know he does alot of other projects as well..correct me if Im wrong Queens of the Stone Age and Tenacious D? I just think guys that can drum and sing at the same time are incredible...Taylor Hawkins who plays drums for the Foos plays and sings a few songs as well!

  • It's kinda cool to see a drummer being lead vocalist. I don't know any other drummer that plays drums and sings lead at he same time.

  • Phil Collins, Dave Grohl on occassion will also sing lead but this is a fantastic lead vocal

  • Oh yha, almost forgot about those guys.

  • Wait, when did Grohl drum and sing at the same time? I know he was the drummer for Nirvana the lead singer for the Foofighters, but when at once?

  • Gary Lewis and the Playboys.

    Buddy Miles (RIP)

  • There is also Levon Helm from The Band

  • Sweet sweet Connie (Hamzi), doin' her thing! MFR&R!

  • The days when men looked and sung like men! They gave us girls something to scream about!

  • I can to youtube to look uo American Dad and then i thought huh i guess ill look up American band to lol

  • My best friend Vickie would come over every saturday night and we would eventuly in 3 months wear out 35 singles of this. Ah to be 14 and horney in the early 70s with this song as our sound track to the necking, petting and.....well you know

  • I love how the drummer has an afro AND killer sideburns!

  • The American Band were my frist Love them I love Mark & don thanks for posting this

  • Can someone say "Rock and Roll Hall of Fame"?

  • did not mean to hit bad remark

  • classic

  • This is incredible

  • Nice!! Disco stu at drums!

  • I love the footage of the guys on this...it shows good friends having fun. Good ole days are gone I guess. Bummer...

  • I luv the video, too. It seems like the beauty of growing up in Amercia is being replaced with zoning laws, corruption, crime and political correctness.

I'm glad that I was a teen in the 70s!

  • Does anyone of you remeber the clip to Some Kind of Wonderful? I think it rehashed some of this clip, but I only saw it circa '76 and never again...

  • No, I only saw a clip from a few years ago where Don, Mel and a few replacement musicians sung it at an outdoor concert.

  • Hey, are you talking about the movie at the theatre? I saw it and wish I could find a copy. I was pretty young but I knew great music! I love this video, the guys jammin' and having fun. I would have loved to be a bug on the wall! : )

  • me too!

  • glad some 1 put the real video on here
