Why is it that I immediately think of this particular soundtrack piece whenever I'm zipping through a mall or store that's over-loaded with crowds upon crowds pompous, moronic customers with coupons and such? :/
I love this song when i was a kid i used to see the part when the millennium falcon was flying threw the asteroid field so i got my toys and started playing like if i was in the movie :D
I'm not big fan of Star Wars anymore. Films are so old that they're not enjoyable anymore. I don't like Clone Wars cartoon from cartoon network because plot and characters are things that no one cares about. Only thing thats gonna be new is Old Republic massive multiplayer rpg. There's no point for me to watch any star wars media right now.
I can totally see the entire asteroid chase in my head right now. It's either a testament to how awesome this score is or how much I fucking love this movie.
@Adrian5606 Agreed... although I can't help think of some of those asteroids as being nothing more than potatoes (which were actually used in some cases as asteroids in this sequence).
@Szyg The odds of successfully navigating the asteroid field are exactly 2 to 1!!! NEVER TELL ME THE O-. .... Hey wait, that's not so bad. I actually like those odds!
@bertxo oh i know, definitly, i searched youtube all morning to find this certain piece of music, hahahahha. How is someone that smart to make such mind blowing peices, right at 2:18 your jaw just drops
He really captured the intensity of the asteroid field with this piece. He really knows how to incorporate moderate chromaticism in his melodic lines while keeping a grip on tonality in the harmony and letting the timbre of the instruments speak for the music. Some say he's a hack: taking from composers like Mahler, but I believe he's taken the best from the history of symphonic composing and made it into his own: standing on the shoulders of the giants that preceded him.
Is the horn-intense part completely original or based off something? It seems like I heard it before in some classical songs. Otherwise, does anyone know of any variants of this song that focus more on that part (the part that starts at 2:18 is what I'm talking about).
@starflame34 The best starpilot in the galaxy is gonna be in trouble when it's iron based asteroids vs. the pasteboard box with an engine that he's flying in. lol
@starflame34: Heh, that's what I was born for. I'm a natural TIE pilot. Hypothetically speaking, of course, I was pretty epic at Star Wars: TIE Fighter back in '97-ish.
@Joesolo13: Palpatine's failure was as a Sith Lord. Not as an Emperor. As an Emperor, he was relatively successful, if terribly overconfident. He thought himself invincible, which was the reason his Empire fell the way it did. A true Sith Lord would never have fallen as easily as he did.
@PlehAP The person's main fault would be Vader because he trained Galen Marek (Starkiller) to be so powerful in the Force to the point where he'd betray him twice, Galen fell in love with Juno and allowed the formation of the Rebellion.
@PlehAP That's pretty much how they all fell. Overconfidence combined with underestimating their apprentice = whoops, I woke up with a lightsaber in my face.
@XxShadow69xX Not really. Read up on the Darth Bane series. Killing your master in their sleep is no proof that you are actually a better Sith than they are. Deception, secrecy, and assassination are all only tools in the hand of a Sith Lord. They are necessary, but they do not demonstrate supremacy. To truly make yourself worthy of the title Darth, you have to ambush and then duel your master and kill them. The entire point is that you have become more powerful, not that you're more clever.
@PlehAP That's the theory and principle behind it, but how many of them actually pulled that off? Theory always goes out the window when it comes to practicality. Yes, there were a few that decided to SHOW they were the most powerful and defeated their masters in a fair-ish fight, but deception and betrayal were by and large the rule, not the exception. Even Vader from the outset wanted to depose Palpatine, the only difference was the actual impetus for his betrayal when he got around to it.
@PlehAP That's very similar to how Darth Malak, in the midst of an ambush on the Sith Empire, ordered his ship to attack Revan's ship, or how Dooku ordered his droid to attack the command ship while Ventress and the Jedi were on board.
I said "Rebellion era" not the Rebellion. Though the Alliance owns anyway. As does the Empire. And the Rebellion era (0 BBY-4 ABY, though I would like to add 1BBY to the era though.)
That's the setting of Empire at War, and it's a damn good setting. The Alliance is slowly growing, while the evil Empire is losing it's grip over the galaxy.
