Thanks for the great video, very informative. Ive been researching pocket cameras for about a month now because I REALLY want one, and i think the Zi8 is the one im getting once im not totally broke, also i can only get it on Amazon :(

I have the Zi6 and I can confirm that the lens viewing angle is too compact. The Zi8's lens is so much wider and the detail is increased even at the same resolution. The best part is the frame rate doesn't get choppy in low light situations.

I can't stand how sensitive my Zi6 is in low light situations. The frame rate gets choppy if you are not filming in very well lit room. This is why I will be upgrading to the Zi8. It's not even close, the Zi8 kills the Zi6.

zi8 seems to be slightly better. here in england zi 6 is <= 70GBP and zi8 is around 120GBP. I went for the zi 6 for now as i like the styling, the use of AA batteries and the supplied cables will work with my any TV set that i have access to.

Hi, gut, ich hab mir jetzt doch eine gekauft. Welches Programm könnte man empfehlen um die Aufnahmen ein wenig zu bearbeiten, Hintergrund Musik hinzufügen etc...Ich muss dazu sagen, dass mein PC nicht der schnellste ist. Wäre nett wenn mir da einer einen Tipp geben könnte. Was haltet ihr von Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0? Es gibt zwar schon eine 7.0 Version, aber ich hab Pr.Elements 3.0 noch auf dem Laptop, glaube ich. Ich frag mich ob digitale Kompakt-Fotokameras mindestens genauso gut Video in 720p aufnehmen können...Ton-Aufnahme ist bei denen bestimmt ganz schlecht

Und, gibts eine Möglichkeit in irgendeiner Form einen Weitwinkel-Adapter zu montieren? Da gibts hier bei youtube auch ein entsprechendes Video, nur der Typ reagiert auf meine Frage leider nicht...

Ich kann diesen Anglozismus voll nicht ab.

Werde mir demnächst wahrscheinlich eine Zi6 kaufen. Aber erstmal wollte ich noch prüfen ob es nicht doch Kompakt-Kameras gibt, welche mindestens genauso gut Videos machen.

Womit ist der Ton aufgenommen worden? Das wäre mir nämlich besonders wichtig...

very good review. it appears the zi8 has better clarity. I bought the zi8 and impressed, much better than my other pocketcam samsung-U10.

I like the fact that both had good dark lighting, zi8 was just a tad brighter but could be because the resolution was cleaner.

In regards to the other person's question, the zi8 in 1080p does not record in wide-angle but it does in 720p, and from this video it looks like zi6 does not record in wide angle 720 (but maybe it does in 30fps?).

the makro mode of the Zi8 is about 40 cm and on the Zi6 it is less than 10 cm - that makes the difference. Regarding the zoom, both have digital zoom, the Zi8 4x digital and the Zi6 2x digital!

I khan almost not wait , buying thos Kodak Zi8 , I have , 2 Greative Vado's , but it is not really , my choice.

And I have 1 Kodak ZX 1 and 1 Kodak Zi6

I found those 2 Kodak's finally the better choice.

The Vado , are A litle bit better , about the smooth effect , BUT THE COMPRESSION BAD ,

I think that de NEW kodak , have more wide angle ?? and the smooth effect are A lot better

The entire movie was filmed with 720p/30 fps.

They used the built-in mic on the Zi6 all the time.

For the Zi8 they used the build in mic almost for the entire test, only for the night scenes they used an external mic (you can see in the videos)

Your last questions is difficult to answer, however Alexx and _Refugee_ believe it must have been a noise in the park, because you can only hear it in the park scenes.

was this entire movie 720p/60fps? or were there parts where you compared the 1080p zi8 footage to 720p zi6?

also, was most of this shot with the built-in mic on both?

finally, when you're outdoors at the park, is that high-pitch noise the camera? or is something making the noise outside?
