The Native beliefs are a "way", don't get twisted though, it is another word for religion, but not quite the same. In our prayers we pay homage to several things at once: our people, the Creator, the Earth. Some prayers speak to one group, some to all groups.

A way of explaining this is that our Church is the outdoors, so we are always in church. There are many differences in the ways we carry out our "way", but there is no disrespect in me to any religion, as long as it respects.

In the church (outdoors) the pages of the "bible" are the animals, the bugs, the trees, the herbs (medicine), the waters, the sky, the stars/planets/moon. Nothing is written down per say, so oral tradition is used to pass down all teachings, whether spiritual or survival knowledge. Our creation stories are lessons for our children, and each tribe has a different creation story. It is used to plant the seed of that tribes way. We use songs, celebrations and story telling to carry it all on.

I remember when I was a child (I was raised in regular society) I used to think Native people worshipped multiple `Gods` but that is far from the truth. There is in most cultures the belief that someone created all of this, and same goes for most Native ways. In the same way Christianity has other entities involved in the bible, we have spirits that are involved in creation and historical events. Our beliefs are that everything has a spirit, gifted by the creator.

why do i feel uncomfortable watching this? as much as i like the message it conveys (i really like it, i wish more people would think and mainly ACT like this), i feel as if i when i read these words, i am worshiping false gods or simply a force.. when in my heart i know there is only one God. i do not know what this religion is, or even if it is a religion... but i would be curious to learn more as i am open to learn from all sources (although i am a Christian and will always be)
