  • You DON'T have to play an instrument to be a songwriter. I don't play an instrument, but I have written heaps of songs, you can hear some of them on my YouTube channel.

  • to become a songwriter you need more than just the talent. You need connections, publishers etc and if you have non its bloody hard to get your stuff out there! you could have the best song in the world but if the publishers roster is full they will just turn you down. keep trying, contact as much people as possible, maybe you know someone who knows someone. Build a list of contacts, keep harassing them for advice on your material. you will make it in the end :D

  • The real truth about writing songs is to just write what you feel, when you feel it, and don't worry about rules and theories. Just write it. It's yours.

  • the real key to becoming a songwriter, in addition to some talent, is to know someone

  • as soon as I stop writing crap I'll have a hit song

  • I write full songs in under 15 minutes when they come to me, and I've written about 147 songs in 4 years. I write all the lyrics, but I can't play any instruments. I want to be a professional songwriter though. Do I need to learn how to play guitar?

  • the thing is, I can write a song perfectly, Its quite easy in some respects. Its getting it to the right people thats the issue. No one gives a shit and I dont blame them, all these producers and record labels must get so many demos sent to them etc its really really hard, but my goal is to keep trying, keep at it and eventually maybe... when I'm 85 or something it may pay off :P

  • me either but I have that leather jacket it rocks lol

  • Sorry but I didn't hear any "real truth" in this video.

  • @paullie6719 immerse yourself in music, perfect your instrument and write in your style what comes natural to you but the best advice of all is just write as much as you can. It seemed all good to me.

  • Well, what I do is come up with a title & then I pick out a chord progression, then I come up with a melody & write or record my lyrics. :)

  • I will love to get my songs recorded been writing for 20 years.Just for myself I write songs in my note pads and now I'm looking to go the next step.Do anyone have advice for me.Thanks for the post.
