you are totally right. the most important is the samples and the filters you use to improv the sound. I have Cubase 5 Reason 4 and Ableton Suite 8.1 but i use only Fl Studio i am very lazy.

Exactly.. a sound engineer could make a replica of a soul song using his mic on the street recording all kinds of noises and then editing them in Audacity.
