that is because mongooses is the default vehicle... if you want to race with anything other than mongooses then you have to go into game options and change it to warthogs

I added some weapons to the spawn system just for fun, a teleporter for when you fall off, and at the back there are ghosts, mongooses, a falcon, other vehicles.

you have to put at least 2 checkpoints (use hill marker) on your map and hit "x" on the hill marker... then go to "advanced", and then change it to "race_flag"... also make sure you put down spawn points... if this is confusing then just find a video on youtube... look up "halo reach race tutorial"
