@ilovekpop906 Bake it at 350 on a broiler pan for about 15 minutes, or until it is the crispness you want. I have a video on baked bacon and scrambled eggs.
Hey Betty! I enjoyed your video very much, it gave me and my family a great idea for a simple snack. I love all your videos and am a huge fan. Hope to see more from you soon!
I've uploaded a song called "Toast & Bacon & Eggs" and this vid of yours popped up in the sidebar. :-) I love YouTube for these kind of wrong associations. Your sandwich looks delicious, what was missing at the end of the vid was that you actually tasted it! Also I wondered why the lettuce is called "iceberg lettuce" - funny enough here in Germany we call it iceberg lettuce (Eisbergsalat), too. So does this lettuce only grow on icebergs or was the guy who invented the lettuce Mr. Iceberg? :-)
@mugambismonkey Thanks for your interesting comment. I occasionally taste food after cooking it, because viewers seem to like that. I personally would prefer not to eat while talking...With regard to the name "iceberg," the name refers to the crisp, cold, clean characteristics of the leaves (according to Wikipedia!).
Hello, first off great work on the sandwich as you said it was very simple. A question that I have, and forgive me if you already mentioned this, is did you cook the precooked bacon yourself and did you store it in a ziplock? Thanks in advanced for answer.
@agumon51 Yes, I baked it in the oven on a broiler pan. You can see this in a video of scramled eggs and bacon in bettyskitchen. I think it tastes much better than fried. I do a couple of pounds at a time (almost done), let them freeze individually on a pan with waxed paper, and then just pop them off into a gallon-sized zip-lock bag. Then I can microwave a single slice or two with no trouble or mess.
@1Mafioso4 there are so many creative ways to make sandwiches. i would use white toast w/ mayonaise, shredded lettuce & tomatoes on both sides, salt , pepper, & ketchup. finally the bacon slices in the middle. i love bacon but i try to stay away from it. enjoy.****
YOU INSPIRED ME, NO FOR REAL I WAS SO HUNGRY I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO EAT, I DIDNT HAVE LETTUCE OR TOMATOES NOR PRETZELS, SO INSTEAD I PUT BACON MAYO KETCHUP HAM, CHEESIE POOFS (all i had) PICKLES OLIVES and BEETS (first time trying em) AND IM MAKIN FRENCH FRIES YUM
Some people use ketchup... (NOT ME) lol, but some people do, like if you search "how to make a ham sandwich" on youtube.. the first one i believe uses ketchup .. lol
Nice video, Betty! However, when I make a BLT sandwich I do things a little different than you. First and foremost, I cook my bacon in a pan. I don't use mayonaise or any other kind of spread/sauce. And finally I toast my slices of bread in the pan, so it absorbs a little of the bacon fat, and a lot of the delicious flavor that comes with it. The best drink to have with a BLT is of course a nice cold beer!
Thankyou Betty I like the way you talk and I am wondering where you grew up , I hear a southern drawl....also I want to say I think you are attractive and well dressed
Thanks for all of your sweet compliments! Yes, I have a Southern drawl, specifically a Kentucky drawl--I grew up near Lake Cumberland near Monticello, Kentucky. Thanks for your interest!
I really enjoy BLT sandwiches, so thanks for the recipe. I stack mine as such: bread, mayo, lettuce, tomato, black pepper, bacon, cheddar cheese, bread. Thanks to your bacon freezing tip, I may be making a lot of these!!!
Yes, I bake the bacon in my oven on top of a broiler pan, which catches the grease, and I do 2 pounds at a time. I don't cook them all the way done, but I drain them on paper towels, and then quick freeze them in the freezer on waxed paper, and then pop them into a gallon-sized zip-lock plastic bag--so convenient!
