  • Ah, mayonnaise-free mayonnaise, my favorite!

Jokes aside, great video and great sandwich :)

  • @ilovekpop906 Bake it at 350 on a broiler pan for about 15 minutes, or until it is the crispness you want. I have a video on baked bacon and scrambled eggs.

  • nice =3

  • SAMMICHES!!

  • I've uploaded a song called "Toast & Bacon & Eggs" and this vid of yours popped up in the sidebar. :-) I love YouTube for these kind of wrong associations. Your sandwich looks delicious, what was missing at the end of the vid was that you actually tasted it! Also I wondered why the lettuce is called "iceberg lettuce" - funny enough here in Germany we call it iceberg lettuce (Eisbergsalat), too. So does this lettuce only grow on icebergs or was the guy who invented the lettuce Mr. Iceberg? :-)

  • @mugambismonkey Thanks for your interesting comment. I occasionally taste food after cooking it, because viewers seem to like that. I personally would prefer not to eat while talking...With regard to the name "iceberg," the name refers to the crisp, cold, clean characteristics of the leaves (according to Wikipedia!).

    --Betty :)

  • Hello, first off great work on the sandwich as you said it was very simple. A question that I have, and forgive me if you already mentioned this, is did you cook the precooked bacon yourself and did you store it in a ziplock? Thanks in advanced for answer.

  • @agumon51 Yes, I baked it in the oven on a broiler pan. You can see this in a video of scramled eggs and bacon in bettyskitchen. I think it tastes much better than fried. I do a couple of pounds at a time (almost done), let them freeze individually on a pan with waxed paper, and then just pop them off into a gallon-sized zip-lock bag. Then I can microwave a single slice or two with no trouble or mess.

    --Betty :)

  • I love BLT's but we prefer ours with mustard and lots of it.

  • who ate that?

  • Love the southern accent ! Man I need me a southern belle

  • i made a BLT and just finished eating it, i like to put mayonaise and mustard on one slice, and thousand island dressing on the other ..MMMM tasty..

  • @1Mafioso4 there are so many creative ways to make sandwiches. i would use white toast w/ mayonaise, shredded lettuce & tomatoes on both sides, salt , pepper, & ketchup. finally the bacon slices in the middle. i love bacon but i try to stay away from it. enjoy.****

  • YOU INSPIRED ME, NO FOR REAL I WAS SO HUNGRY I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO EAT, I DIDNT HAVE LETTUCE OR TOMATOES NOR PRETZELS, SO INSTEAD I PUT BACON MAYO KETCHUP HAM, CHEESIE POOFS (all i had) PICKLES OLIVES and BEETS (first time trying em) AND IM MAKIN FRENCH FRIES YUM

  • @ShKitSo

The ketchup was a nice substitute for the tomatoes, and of course you can't beat ham for a make-shift lettuce substitute.

  • I didn't say I like what you do, I just love the accent, no I'm just having a laugh ;) btw, what about some pork chops or spicy ribs?

  • @Otzmatron Hi! I'm planning on some marinated and grilled pork chops before long. Thanks for your sweet comment!

    --Betty :)

  • I just love these southern housewives.

  • @Otzmatron I'm glad you like what I do!

  • Miracle HWIP!

  • thanks! i just made myself this delicious recipe for lunch! it was great!

    Thanks, Jojo

  • Some people use ketchup... (NOT ME) lol, but some people do, like if you search "how to make a ham sandwich" on youtube.. the first one i believe uses ketchup .. lol

  • mmmm sammich

  • whooooite bread ftw

  • Just made 1, tasted great.

Didnt know baking the bacon in the microwave for 1 minute was that easy.

No hassle with pans and such.

    Thnks betty.

  • @ingekevi Thanks for the great feedback! The microwave is wonderful for partially-cooked bacon!

    --Betty :)

  • Wow, Betty you've got some really well made videos =D. Can you tell me what sort of camera you use to make your videos?

  • The camera we use is a Canon PowerShot S5 IS (8.0 megapixels). Thanks for your nice comment! I hope this helps!

    --Betty :)

  • You should consider being a professional cook..!

  • I would have liked to have been a chef, but I turned out to be a math teacher--so I just cook as a hobby! Thanks for your kind comment!

    --Betty :)

  • That BLT is perfect that you made :).

  • Thanks very much! I hope you enjoy it!

    --Betty :)

  • can u mail that to me ;(

  • I wish I could!

    Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • Nice video, Betty! However, when I make a BLT sandwich I do things a little different than you. First and foremost, I cook my bacon in a pan. I don't use mayonaise or any other kind of spread/sauce. And finally I toast my slices of bread in the pan, so it absorbs a little of the bacon fat, and a lot of the delicious flavor that comes with it. The best drink to have with a BLT is of course a nice cold beer!

    Greets from Holland!

  • Your method sounds delcious! I think everyone loves BLT's! Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • i like how u displayed ur BLT

  • Thanks very much!

    --Betty :)

    --Betty :)

  • Thankyou Betty I like the way you talk and I am wondering where you grew up , I hear a southern drawl....also I want to say I think you are attractive and well dressed

  • Thanks for all of your sweet compliments! Yes, I have a Southern drawl, specifically a Kentucky drawl--I grew up near Lake Cumberland near Monticello, Kentucky. Thanks for your interest!

    --Betty :)

  • great, betty... tnx

  • Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • betty

how do you stay so trim

  • For me, the key is to not restrict anything in my diet, but to only eat small portions, and I try to work out 4 times a week.

    --Betty :)

  • I really enjoy BLT sandwiches, so thanks for the recipe. I stack mine as such: bread, mayo, lettuce, tomato, black pepper, bacon, cheddar cheese, bread. Thanks to your bacon freezing tip, I may be making a lot of these!!!

  • Yours sounds yummy! I think I'll start adding the cheese, too! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)

  • Yes, I bake the bacon in my oven on top of a broiler pan, which catches the grease, and I do 2 pounds at a time. I don't cook them all the way done, but I drain them on paper towels, and then quick freeze them in the freezer on waxed paper, and then pop them into a gallon-sized zip-lock plastic bag--so convenient! You can see a demonstration of this on my Baked Bacon and Scrambled Eggs video, if interested. Thanks for commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • Do you cook the bacon and then store it in the freezer? I've never done that, it's interesting for quick healthy meals

  • thanx betty

  • You are very welcome! Thanks for viewing and commenting!

    --Betty :)

  • What brand bacon do you buy? I would like to know a good one to use...thanks!

  • I but just about any type. I have found that baking it in the oven and then microwaving for crispness makes all of them come out about the same. If I had to pick a favorite brand, it would be Fisher's Mellwood. Thanks for your question!

    --Betty :)

  • It's been a while since I had a BLT sandwich and this video made me want to run to the market, get the ingredients, and make one!

  • Thanks for your comment! Sometimes I feel awkward making a very common dish (like a BLT), but at least I think I am reminding people of some things they know how to make, but haven't thought of for awhile! Thanks for verifying that!

    --Betty :)

  • My mother used to always make these for us so this is a trip down memory lane. I have kind of forgotten about them if that's possible (maybe because it's so simple lol). In any event, it's a great, quick sandwich that is sure to please! Thanks for sharing Betty! =)

  • You're welcome! As I told another person, I feel a little awkward explaining how to do the obvious, but I am hoping in some cases that I am reminding you of what you already know how to do! Thanks for the confirmation!

    --Betty :)

  • craving for it :D

    i need to try this:D

  • You won't be disappointed! It tastes great!!! Thanks for your comment!

    --Betty :)
