i only just recently started paying attention to ron paul, i've seen signs for him all over the place since before 2008 but just never really looked into it. now that i finally have, he seems like the most sensible presidential candidate i've ever seen. i looked at his website and i agree'd with pretty much all of his opinions. he takes the good ideas from both parties and leaves out the bad ones.

Of course the goal is 0& taxes and a small a government as possible, but first of all the economics needs to be fixed. A 0% tax is utopia for this century. Perhaps 45% income tax and 30% tax on all goods and cut federal budget in half, including military for this century, then work our way down to 0% for our great great grandchildren.

And with energy prices going at records high, especially the oil price, I dont see how pure market growth and low taxes are going to turn it all into the better. America is driven forward (or backwards) by the same elite. Obama, Bush, Cheney, Clinton, they are all the same. Obama said he was going to close Gitmo, get out of Iraq and Afghanistan ASAP, if he got elected president.
I have a slight hope that an honest man that I believe is on the side of the people, and not politics, is to become president, I hope for Ron Paul.
But most people are going with the usual "oh hes a communist" or "oh hes a neocon" etc. Republican, Democrat, all the same.

If you can, image how much better a nation we would have in the year 2020 if Ron Paul were president for 8 years...Liberty restored, monetary policy fixed, wasteful and oppressive institutions dismantled, taxes @ 0%, freedom of individual choice and responsibility promoted, unemployment under 3%, safety for our troops by bringing them all home, illegal/endless wars stopped, the list goes on and on...

@thaiblacky 0 % taxes? If America want's to get out of the economic trouble, taxes would probably raised 25%. Nobody likes it, but its going that way. Of course the goal is 0& taxes and a small a government as possible, but first of all the economics needs to be fixed. A 0% tax is utopia for this century. Perhaps 45% income tax and 30% tax on all goods and cut federal budget in half, including military for this century, then work our way down to 0% for our great great grandchildren.

@sangolt88 Mabey 0% is dreaming a little too much, but we definitely don't need 45% income tax and 30% tax.If that were to come the USA would collapse swiftly.You can't raise taxes and expect them to cover the problem.More tax=less investment and less individual spending (correct market spending).The economy isn't a stable pie that you can just cut up into differing percentages. The 'pie' grows and shrinks depending on the REAL value added or subtracted.Taxes shrink the pie by destroying value.

@thaiblacky Well, some how the economy has to turn around to the point where the debt is not getting larger, but smaller. And with energy prices going at records high, especially the oil price, I dont see how pure market growth and low taxes are going to turn it all into the better. Experts like Matt Simmons are talking about how oil is going into depletion as we speak, and that prices are going to hit the skies, and all other markets are going to pay the price for that. What is your solution?

@sangolt88 I do agree with you also though that our debt problem should be priority and just looking at one thing won't solve it. We need a holistic approach, and a non-contradictory one at that. Ron Paul seems to have most of it together, but he isn't a savior. America needs to be debating these issues openly and often, and we are a long ways away from that...

We need to teach america, that it is in our best interest to stop supporting corporatism. And start supporting our own local economies. Million dollar ceo's, and minimum wage workers is bad economics. Giving all our money, that we created by providing product/services, to the rich,. Is not true capitalism! Investing in those that invest in you, is the only way to gain
