  • @GaMeOvErRules it can but very slowly

  • lmao @1:20

  • its not a router duh! It has no router functions.

  • What is this, Logan imitator?

  • This little sucker is a few inch taller than a netgear's wireless router. and this little sucker is quite heavy!!!

  • I just got one. but I still need to learn how to make the best of it. HEHEHE mine came with 3TB!!

  • mines haves 6 heheheheh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • mine has 8 tb but that still wasnt enough storage so i still got 3 nas boxs with 4tb each.. so thats 12tb more and Im out of space already.. took me 2 weeks to fill it all..

  • Can This Pc Server Use Aplications Like DB's And Programs Or DOS And Cmd's Directly Or Remotly. Just Answer Me Can This Pc Run Programs

  • Humm I think remotly. You need another computer to program it. but like he said is really easy to do so.

  • can this be used as application server?

  • @ 2:45 he said it would support FireFly? does he mean FireFox? If not, what is Firefly? Can somone explain this to me...Like I was a 6yr old? LOL (get it? The juror from Philadelphia, The Movie)

  • Anybody else see the Pink Friday fiasco these guys put on --- Ebay or Newegg is the only way to go...these guys were clueless when the net went down. Very very funny. I wish I had recorded it.

  • Albert forgot to mention is the CPU which is a AMD Sempron processor.

Your better off building your own server because your not limited to 10 user accounts and a weak processor and you could turn it to many types of servers like PHP, SQL, hosting games and more.

  • can i use this thing to host a game server like gmod can i

or am i geting this complity wrong and can i host a web site with this ?

  • No, it's just storage and network in that one, you need a REAL server to do that.

  • Actually, you can a host website server with the HP media server.

  • But thats aint a game server. :)

  • Why that hassle when you just buy a REAL server instead. And running a game server from home through that is just very bad.

  • but ofcourse if you get a REAL server than you'll have the burden to pay for a REAL server.

For instance, a basic server motherboard will cost you as much as a SUPERMICRO PDSLA board which is about 170 usd and thats only the board compares to 450 usd for the HP media server.

But don't get me wrong i think this a good server for new commers, but a REAL server is more versatile and expensive.

  • Yes of course, it's worth the money but why buy 450 usd media smart when you can actually put something together pretty cheap that will run a game server flawless. You can also get a supermicro for that price too, thought a 1U is a bad choice just to have on the desk at home and you need to pay for co-location. You can also rent a game server/server/VPS which is pretty cheap too! :)

  • I think we are both in the same page.

The HP media server would only be good as a server for average people who are not seeking to spent much.

For gamers and web admin, building your server would be a better option but they must pay the premuim price for it which is worth it :)

  • In Fact you can host a game on that server if you wipe out Microsft Media Server on it than install linux.

  • I don't remember the name of the manufacturer but, I think, in the next year they will be launching a 200tb hard drive.

  • I was never really a backup type of person...probably because i am too lazy!!!

  • ooh i want one!!

  • It's always good to see good videos thankx for sharing...

  • cool...i think ill just stick to using my 2tb external..

  • yaa...but albert's cool

  • say i have all my music on this and im listening to it on a remote computer can i put my music on my ipod from that server thing?

  • As soon as I heard Microsoft I cringed. So its a giant DRM POS?

  • what if someone hacks your network?...

  • well thatsn up to your router or wireless router to block hackers if u have imcp ping you will not get hacked. hope that answerd ur question

  • configure your remote access/vpn (virtual private network)and you firewall

  • Sounds like Network Attaches Storage, NAS rather than what you'd call a server.

  • lol noob

  • i don't like the idea of homeservers, they gotta run all-time and sucking up power.

  • it doesnt take much power.

  • 700$? id just buy a 1TB internal and share it across our LAN for 500$ less :p

The access from across the world feature is pretty sweet tho :D

  • Albert is doing a great job.... I preferred logan, but Albert is a very smart man.

  • there should be firewire for those external harddrives

  • Stop assuming things without knowing the facts.

  • what does backup mean? (in this case)

you lose a file from an error or smth and it backs it up? explane pls

  • solid man

  • waste of money

  • Seems nice, sounds like it will be expensive though :p

  • $579.99 for the 500 GB version.

$719.99 for the 1 TB version.

That really is expensive ... ^^
