I decided to look up info on Ben Baddoo. If I got the right man in the search, he's from Ghana, not Kenya, but does a lot of shows on the world music cicuit. He may be actually play an Endongu or similar lyre. There are about five lyres that I know of used in East Africa, some perhaps only different in name. Endongo (Uganda,) krar (Ethiopia and Eritrea,) asheeroo(Somalia,) litungu (Tanzania,) obokano and nyattiti (Kenya.) Rule out krar and obokano here (fingering and register.)
1. The real Luo Nyatiti instrument is and MUST be placed as well as played on the GROUND. The LUO Nyatiti obeys strict Luo rules of the ancestors as regards the GROUND. It's in contact with the (ground, "piny")under which ancestors rest and are.
2. Fake. A harp that is played without resting on the ground is not and does not represent Luo Culture and people.
3. Also, the man is singing in a Language that is not Luo.

this my or may not be traditional, but this is beautiful.

This can never be a Luo instrument and/or represent any Luo culture and community.
By all means the man seems to be using a similar instrument singing in possibly an african dialect.
Luo culture and music is much vigorous and not as monotonous as this piece suggests.
Can this be corrected not to confuse people abt the Luo instrument 'Nyatiti' of its use and looks and feel.

This is not NYATITI and it is not Luo music.

Thank you.

Fascinating, that such a cobbled-together-looking instrument can prodcue such a beautiful sound.
This is one very talented player.
