  • Thanks for the upload. A gem.

Why wasn't this a pop hit?

Maybe the shirts were too adventurous for the industry. Too artistic, not enough grovel and teeth?

  • "I'm not exact, but I'm not insane."

I love that lyric. Of Skins and Heart was an amazing album.

  • @ExiledStars This song is just laden with wonderfully poetic lyrics, and, as I understand it, largely meaningless apart from the beautiful soundscape and imagery they create.

  • these guys are one of the great b ands of the world

  • I really like all that is going on here musically.

  • The most hard working band and one of the greatest around.

  • this band is so 'effin awesome. Marty touched me in Minneapolis at First Avenue

  • Wasn't I right when I told you "Of Skins and Heart" was a fucking EARGASM??!!!... The Church at their BEST without a doubt!!!....

  • @beepollen1 He changes the way he sings through time, he is a true chameleon. Yet, there's that unexplainable thing that always remain the same in all their songs.

  • They were my favourite band to watch at the Sylvania pub in the early '80's. Oh so many good nights.

  • I bought their 2 CD set yesterday:

Deep In The Shallows: The Classic Singles [import] (EMI) ]2007.

The highlight song for me is:

Welcome - The Church- 1996 - "Very GOOD first impression. A Lou Reed-esque walk through history with References to many famous people. One of their BEST songs after all these years."

  • any band that gets signed to a major label is never under rated. that title gos to bands over looked via deaf record companies

  • An incredible mind-blowing EXPERIENCE = The Church!!! They fucking RULE!!!

  • One of Australia's most sadly underated bands. Glad we have someone who stays above the crap that propagates the airwaves.

  • The Ploog does have a strange drumming style hey.

  • I never saw this video Clip, for me it is unpublished!! I love this instrument, a guitar of 12 strings!! I liked !!

  • Yeah, that's a Shergold... Mike Rutherford had a 2-necked one with a bass... drool... that gtr. was stolen, i think, back in the late 80's... a shame, beautiful instrument. Great tune as well

  • They wore such great shirts.Seen them in 1988 , and have bought everything i could since!

  • the details weren't important, the plot was slight.

  • Steve's playing a fretless bass,and whats that weird 12 string?

  • I love that song!

The weird 12 strings is a Shergold Modulator i think. There's a story behind all of that with a nice picture of Marty on Brian Smith web site deicated to The Church.shadowcabinet

  • great clip dude...funny to see them so young and not yet quite jaded

  • Something that I think it was amazing in this clip, it is the part when the music breaks, and then we listen the audience still clapping in the rhythim of the music.

  • i've always found myself patting my foot during that three-beat rest, too!! the rhythm in this song is amazing, because it keeps itself going....

  • @caiofons yes that break at 2:32 is pretty amazing -- also funny how SK does this exaggerated letting go of the bass with both arms swinging at his sides like noodles -- everyone's performance is so sassy it's a delight to watch as well as listen.

  • Who is drumming? Is it Pichard Ploog , or the alleged Nick Ward?

  • Hi Leigh,

Mario here, that's Ploogy without question.

Great clip though, I've neve seen this until right now.
