@ExiledStars This song is just laden with wonderfully poetic lyrics, and, as I understand it, largely meaningless apart from the beautiful soundscape and imagery they create.

@beepollen1 He changes the way he sings through time, he is a true chameleon. Yet, there's that unexplainable thing that always remain the same in all their songs.
Deep In The Shallows: The Classic Singles [import] (EMI) ]2007.
The highlight song for me is:
Welcome - The Church- 1996 - "Very GOOD first impression. A Lou Reed-esque walk through history with References to many famous people. One of their BEST songs after all these years."
Yeah, that's a Shergold... Mike Rutherford had a 2-necked one with a bass... drool... that gtr. was stolen, i think, back in the late 80's... a shame, beautiful instrument. Great tune as well
The weird 12 strings is a Shergold Modulator i think. There's a story behind all of that with a nice picture of Marty on Brian Smith web site deicated to The Church.shadowcabinet
Something that I think it was amazing in this clip, it is the part when the music breaks, and then we listen the audience still clapping in the rhythim of the music.
@caiofons yes that break at 2:32 is pretty amazing -- also funny how SK does this exaggerated letting go of the bass with both arms swinging at his sides like noodles -- everyone's performance is so sassy it's a delight to watch as well as listen.
Thanks for the upload. A gem.
Why wasn't this a pop hit?
Maybe the shirts were too adventurous for the industry. Too artistic, not enough grovel and teeth?

"I'm not exact, but I'm not insane."
I love that lyric. Of Skins and Heart was an amazing album.

They were my favourite band to watch at the Sylvania pub in the early '80's. Oh so many good nights.

One of Australia's most sadly underated bands. Glad we have someone who stays above the crap that propagates the airwaves.

i've always found myself patting my foot during that three-beat rest, too!! the rhythm in this song is amazing, because it keeps itself going....

Who is drumming? Is it Pichard Ploog , or the alleged Nick Ward?
busbydaze 5 years ago
Hi Leigh,
Mario here, that's Ploogy without question.
Great clip though, I've neve seen this until right now.
