Prime example on how people mistake a gutiar solo. People always think that guitiar solo's are only for weird bending notes and fast picking....naww a solo is whatever music u create at the time that makes you feel good and in the process of playing alone. peace. good post.

The one he is playing here is the 914c with the cindy inlay and the florentine cutaway. To my knowlege, he owns two other taylor 914c's one with this 'cindy' inlay and one with the standard inlay (both those have the venetian cutaway). In 08 I believe he bought a new 914ce with the electronics from taylor. I know he also has a taylor 714c that he used as the main stage guitar, he now uses it as one of his raised-b guitars.

He also has a new (either GS or GA 7 (i cant tell)) that he also uses as his raised-b guitar. He also plays the w-65 walnut 12-strings, i believe he has two of those. He also has a taylor custom baritone that he uses for his acoustic baritone songs. So to answer your question, I believe that he has about 9 taylors. I could be wrong, so no one quote me on this, but as far as i know these are the taylors he has... Hope this helps

Let's be honest here guys...is Dave the best soloist around? No. Imo he has a little TOO much rhythm to really emote with his playing in the way, say, LeRoi can.

That said, can he come up with a REALLY fucking funky-ass groove? Hell yes. I'd love to see him do this more.

yeah i notice that alot, like all his songs make you feel, not the same but, ... his music hits people in a way no other sound does. its amazing to think that he wrote such good music. the EX just means that the E string is muted.

i used to be really into dave but im not so much now. but i cant frickin wait for his new album.

Yeah I know. I was pretty into him last year, not all that much. I was really into the Shins. When I saw him in concert last year at Camden, I was blown away so much, and I've been obsessed since then. The sound is so amazing, unlike anything else, and it is not Dave that makes it, but the instrumentation and the talent of everyone. Sure his songwriting is phenomenal, but his chords are usually pretty simple, but it's everything else that gives it the full sound.

yeah i know what hes up to there, but its the way he plays it. its just muting all the strings except 2 of them and the chords look like EX A7 DX G9 BX EX and/or E7 AX D9 GX BX EX and/or (this is a harmonic chord) EX AX D7 GX B10 EX. its very percussive and he moves the chord up and down the fret board. you'll figure it out. but its the rhythm and order that he does it that makes it sound good

this is anything but awesome. dave needs to use his guitar for rythmn and his voice for soloing like he always does. that's what makes him so great. he does have a pretty sick solo on listener's supported jimi thing though.
