  • Amazing that such a motley assortment of characters could gel so brilliantly live.

  • the B52's laid down the law. Fred could have been the next Pharaoh.

  • Kicking ass.

  • I saw this in the hot summer of 83, as it was broadcasted LIVE late at night on German TV: Since then the band influenced me in music.

The next day i rushed to the record store and bought "Whammy" and it`s still in my shelf today.

Gorgeous Kate & Cindy, Gorgeous band!!!

  • damn they were good! few bands can really cut if live they did on this one! wow, they really outdid the studio version! I can only wonder what happened if ricky hadn't died.

  • You had to see this live in the 80's.... I saw it in the fox theater in atlanta. The BASS was sooo intense the whole place shook :P You just can't recreate that part. EVERYONE was dancing!! It was insane.

  • Väldigt udda sättning !!

Gitarr , Trummor , Synth och två Sångare

  • Kate is simply unbeliveable - a brilliant musician! So just pumps that baseline on the keys while singing very difficult vocal arrangements close to spot on all the time! ***** stars!

  • How's this for a fantasy: Fred & Kate have a child, in vitro if necessary, even if they desire a surrogate to carry it. Cindy raises the child since she already has a little family started & "Uncle" Keith tutors the child in drums & guitar. *That* would be an incredible kid!

  • LOVE the harmonies of these girls!!!!!

  • Can I just say, Fred is one amazing human being? yes, yes he is...and this is a hell of band!

  • these guys are so weird they crack me up

Before i Talk i should read a BOOK

THERE is somethong that i did not know

IN MESOPATAMIA THEY LAY DOWN THE LAW

  • A great, really great performance.

    With a valid point.

    Question:

So where do all these don't do this and don't do that rules come from?

    Answer:

'6 or 8 thousand years ago...

    They laid down THE LAW..

  • Soooooo much better than the studio version. They should have recorded that entire album live. I have a bootleg concert recording including Toss That Beat and Cake along w/ Meso, and they are all so much better live than the Byrne-produced studio versions.

  • "...before I talk, I should READ A BOOK!"

  • They were just not the same after the death of Ricky Wilson. He was really the driving force behind the band

  • you can hear the david byrne influence.

  • B-52 Fans Rock!

  • @Wildelou I know, what a hot crowd. Clapping and dancing the whole song. No other band awakens the groove in their audience

  • this is one of these moments where god takes a picture. beyond beautiful...

  • I'll meet you by the third pyramid...

  • The original tutters!

  • I'm young again, memories a lightin the corners of my square numb skull

  • he's such a great dancer !!

    I OVE this video

  • They still flip my mind out to this day.

Fred's dance steps help soothe the troubles in my life cause they're so funny!

Also the theme's they came up with, who's

    writing about Mesopotamia?

  • this is funny!

  • i had to listen to this in social studies class everyday for 3 months

  • The closest clip of Ricky in this clip is 2:53

  • today at school we had to do a 2 paragraph summary about this song

  • Dance this mess around, you vibe-bombers.

  • i listen to this song in my social studues class

  • One of the greatest live bands ever. Take a look at bigtime talent.

  • Totally agree!

  • ESTO ES SIMPLEMENTE MARAVILLOSO...

  • fantastic bit of live music!

  • They brought tears of joy to my eyes when I saw them in Las Vegas in 2006.....awesome!!!!!!

  • anyone know what year this is from?

  • It's from 1982, produced by David Byrne of the Talking Heads

  • the album was 82, this concert is 83

  • They laid down THE LAW !

     GREATNESS !

  • 1) The girls' voices are awesome.(Even today)

    2) Fred is freaking cool on stage!

They stick it to the talentless hacks like Britney Spears. They have better voices, and may not be sexy to the media, but they are awesome.

  • One of my favorite bands . Looking back I'm grateful I took the trouble to see these (new wave&punk) bands live. I saw the B52s twice once in Berkeley in 1980 and later in Mesa Az in 1983/4 Their energy still comes through today.

  • Keith is HOT. Everyone stills looks great. Welcome back..52's.

  • Keith is so gorgeous!

  • B-52s are love. :)

  • Baadpuddytat: So they went mainstream on Whammy? You suck!

  • hahaha. nice!

  • GO FRED!!

  • really good 2 hear this amazing band again, lost touch wth them when my bro swiped my one & only B52 album cosmic thing , is it my imagination or did freddy spawn from Devo ? these guys r soooo ahead of there time ,kinda slipped by mainstream culture though im glad of that ,there loss....

  • i defenetly agree with you on the devo part!

  • Mesopotamia my culture

    Now its Kurdistan

    Long live Mesopotamia

    Long live Kurds and Kurdistan

  • lol

  • Realeased in early 1982, the album Mesopotamia was produced by David Byrne of Talking Heads. I remember when it came out, it was an alternative rock hit and a great 3rd album.

  • I was in a cool record store in Greenwich Village the first time I heard it. Already a fan of the B-52s, it hit me like a ton of bricks...a ton of pink, cosmic bricks made out of moon beams...or something. ;)

  • When the beings from Zots get here I vote the B-52's as welcoming comittee.

  • nouvelle danse la tektonik?

  • Should've turned up the keyboards, that's what really made this song.

Also liked the crowd keeping the beat, what an awesome crowd.

  • The girl sounds like my sister

  • wat girl?

  • OK I'll admit this is one of the songs when people ask why I like it all I can do is shrug. It's one you either like or you don't. I like this version better than the album version though :)

  • the girl has the sexiest voice ever.

  • wat girl?

  • Kate. Her voice is perfect.

  • lol

    yeaa

    i kno

    shes my fav :)

  • I agree, but also Cindy's voice is perfect ;-)

I'll meet you by the 3rd pyramid, I'll meet you by the 3rd pyramid, oh come on, that's what I want ...

  • they laid down the law...

  • He reminds me so much of David Byrne...Wow...I love this band...

  • Early Fred! Awesome energy....long before the bangles walked like an egyptian or steve martin put king tut in

"a condo made of stona"! freddy bear!

  • before i write this i should read a book but i will say this , i love this song i wish there was a clip or vid of through that beat in the garbage can thats my fav.

  • or "Loveland" or "Cake"

  • and now Mesopotamia is Iraq

  • back when the 52's ruled! --- my 1st concert was for this tour!

  • Brilliant!

  • I'll meet you by the third pyramid!

  • They laid down the law! Rare video by an even rarer band. Now we need a video of Loveland.

  • I never thought this vid would be on here. This and 52 girls are my fav b52s song. Thanks for posting.

  • 52 Girls and Mesopotamia are my favorite B-52's songs too. Does anyone know if this video is going to be released on a DVD or anything like that? If the whole show was taped I'd buy the DVD of it in a heartbeat

  • why is Kate SO butch/Dykey????

  • that's god. she's hot. if i was her age i'd tap that

  • only in this vid... kinda....

  • I still have my Mesop tour t-shirt!

  • I would of had to though too... and skemle do you mean memories of before Cindy's brother died? I miss him too. But at least the band still goes strong their new album should be out in 2007.
