Really great quality considering the time period (as others have doubtlessly said).
Always surprises me when things like this turn up. I imagine more often than not whole vaultfuls of old performance videos have been just tossed out... luckily some are preserved.
Saw Nice live at the Locarno in Coventry 1968/9, one of the two. At College in Coventgry College of Education at the time - amazing; does anyone know who was with them that night, playing Sabre Dance and can I find that on You Tube?
Back in high school, in the 70s ( ! ), I was a keyboard player in several basement bands, and a HUGE fan of Keith Emerson. It was stuff like this that inspired me to play back then.
Thanks go out to Keith for the inspiration, and thanks again for the great footage !
Keith is one of the greatest, no doubt ... if with The Nice, ELP or solo ... he is a pioneer of prog rock! Awesome ... this old footage is priceless! THANX for posting!
BTW, Keith is brilliant. I'm sad only a few recall his brilliance. Get his latest live album with Mark Bonilla...it's the best Emerson since the mid 70's.
10, 000 views....pathetic. What has the world come to artistically. Not much, I'm afraid. When the younger generations start looking back for inspiration, we know the fall of Rome is near.
Many people were desparate after the second world war about the Nazis and asked the world: How could this happen to a country which had composers like Bach ?
I could also ask the world why silly hypocrites and banal assholes are almost everywhere in the world.
God bless Bach an his music revolution back then - and he was no snob - like the Nazis - but open-minded to everything - even new at old age !
Actually no relation to Python Lee Jackson as I had made that mistake in the past. Lee Jackson was in Jackson Heights in the 70's and then with a semi-reformation of the Nice with Patrick Moraz called Refugee in 1974.
thanks so much for this rarity! Great that they would attempt this piece without the orchestra from the original. It's the orchestra that really gives it its drive.
un fucking believable- the musicianship ship here is almost second to none- im 25 now and come from a different age, when music now is so pathetic and revolves around tv reality shows rather than knuckling down rather than earning your stripes over a number of years without the aid of television and even radio. My dad introduced me to this and i havent looked back since
Fantastic!! Thank you so much for posting! Where's the wrong note in the solo? I've noticed other wrong notes of Keith's (usually 1 in every million!) but I can't spot one here. I was fascinated by his hand-written music too - and I was wondering why he turned over at one point near the end, when it seemed to be a recapitualtion of what he'd played before. Still, he is the pioneering genius - the rest of us just humbly follow!
Brandemburger concert n° 3 .... very modified.

@Julian53847 : Sabre Dance was covered by Dave Edmunds' Love Sculpture at that time, I'm sure it's on Youtube....

Great find. Other than the Beatles, two groups changed my life when I saw them live in the 60's: The Who and The Nice.
