  • what brand of organ

  • @appleeimac

Under the video, click the double down arrows, and there is full information there about the organ.

    Thanks for viewing.

  • @joenwayne are you playing

  • @appleeimac

Yes. The following year I got a wide-angle lens for the camcorder. But when this was shot, in order to have the choir in the shot I had to leave myself off.

    Greetings from New Jersey,

  • @appleeimac sure sounds like a Willis Tuba there

  • Thanks for this video. Christmas Eve is very special to our family. Our son is away at college and last year we attended services together. They played this as the processional hymn. Merry Christmas to all (yes, it is a little early )

  • @wcottee Thanks for your comments and for viewing.

  • Wow...very fantastic! This was the processional at Christmas Eve mass at my local Cathedral! And hearing this brings back the memory!

  • Thanks for your kind comments and for viewing.

  • they played this during the processional at my church last night :)

  • Very nice arrangement

  • Thank you.

  • MAN Joe that sounds wonderful. It goes to show what Organ voicing from that period can do

  • Thanks Desiree for your comments and for viewing.

    Cheers,

    Wayne

  • i wish we had christmas masses like this at my church, on christmas they didnt even play any christmas songs, i was so pissed

  • I wish about Saint Piu V Mass "Tridential" on Christmass.

  • @KOF89

Perhaps you meant Pope St Pius V's Tridentine Mass? Yes, that is surely beautiful. I attend one every week.

  • @RebelKnightCSA

IN my church there is only Novus Ordo mass. Sometimes I could go no the byzantizne rite in Greek-Catholik church (Only in Ukrainian, maybe somewhere in future i will go on byzantine mass in old-slavonic).

  • Next time don't let anyone leave until all the oldie and goodie Christmas hymns are sung. Or just interrupt the service to make sure they are sung. I'd be very upset as well.

  • Thanks for posting the organ specs. It looks and sounds like a fine instrument. Not to mention it's well played!

  • Thanks for viewing and your kind comments.

  • Nice touch at 5:21. You really di a great job here.

  • Sorry what I ment to say is all of did a great job!

  • Thank you. This Christmas 2007 the trumpet did the David Willcox descant on stanza 3 and the choir did a Paul Halley descant on Stanza 4.

Our Christmas 2008 (posted a few days ago) has David Willcox descant and harmonizations on stanzas 3 and 4.

Kind regards and thanks for viewing.

  • My pleasure really. When I heard my teacher play this last week I finally felt free and only this recording and the one of St Patrick's Cathedral share the same beauty.

  • Sounds like Heaven!

  • Thank you.

  • Merry Christmas! This sounds great and will truly get you in the Christmas spirit. You all have Christmas eve/day services coming up don't you? Are you rehearsing? This year show the organist as well, he/she has a big part and should be shown!

  • Christmas Eve 8 p.m. is our big festival.

We have a wide-angle lens this year for the camcorder so it should show more people. Thanks for viewing and best wishes.

  • peaceout

  • Thanks for viewing and your comments!

  • Great!!!

  • Thank you!!

  • Nice performance! But am I right when I say that something goes wrong at 5:54? Sounds like the choir, the organist and the man behind the timpani are all playing in different keys! Maybe it's a different version than the one I'm familiar with (which is pretty dated anyway...)

    Nice vids!

  • I checked your reference to 5:54 - nothing goes wrong. You are correct in that it probably is a version with which you are not familiar. The harmony and descant on the last stanza are by Paul Halley. Thanks for viewing and your comments.

  • Beautiful, I loved everything about it, from beginning to end.

  • Beautiful hymn!

  • Great Job, I love the interlude!

  • Vielen Dank für Ihre gütigen Bemerkungen.

  • I never know how fast (or slow) the crucifer will be walking during the processional. I needed two interludes this evening to get everyone back to the sanctuary so that the sopranos would be in place and ready for their 4th stanza descant.
