Wow that van is very limited in ability . Glad it made it . LandRover with a big ass top .. Would be my choice . But heck that old van gets you there.
@ness19dsm No, definitely not. There were a few irritating moments when we had to deal with police, but nothing really serious. Generally speaking people who live there are super friendly.
Looks like you all had the trip of a lifetime!! I am totally amazed, and totally jealous!! Did you actually get to cross into Afghanistan? I was there with the Army, but I miss it very much.

I haven't done a precise calculation so far, but I'll try to produce a brief one.
I will skip the price of car which we had to buy and repair.
The most expansive were visas:
2 transit Russian: 100USD
2 transit Kazakh: 30USD
Tourist Kyrgyz: 65USD
Tourist Tajik: 60EUR
Tourist Uzbek: 80USD.
I do not remember the exact costs of petrol, accommodation, meals and so on... but it was sth between 500-600USD.
We spent travelling 1,5 month.
