  • (...i'm not gifted to write here, computers are too complicated, lol)

Well, i just wanted to add, What is said at the end of the story is so true,

Happiness is true only if it is shared.

I travelled with what is the most precious to me, my little boys.

All the nice landscapes i've seen were ten times nicer 'coz i could see them in their eyes too, and their happiness make everything more beautiful.

I think, you always shoud share nice things you live with s.o. else

    (sorry for my english ^^)

  • I love this song.

2 years ago, i bought an old Kombi vw , i made a kind of bed inside, my guitar, my two little boys, and we left home, i crossed my whole country without any roadmap, just driving on the small roads, we listened to the cd of eddie vedder,

When i listen these songs now, i have all those memories that come into my mind.

i think that if I could, I would have found a bigger truck and never came back home,

Just keep on moving and live the most possible in the nature,

  • @happyLilOu ...... I got goose pimples reading your post, credit to you for taking your kids on such a wonderful adventure ,my dad did the same fro me when I was a kid we camped up on the lake lough ree ,he's 83 now he gave up on the lake a long time ago but evry so ofthen it comes up in conversation ...good times great times happy memories ..much love and respect to you and your boys ,I hope you get to make many more beautiful memeories ..keep on rocking in the free world ..

  • Thank you, this trip into his face and eyes is so beautiful.. from italy.....

  • The distress note below was purposely not part of the movie.

Attention possible visitors. "S.O.S. I need your help. I am injured, near death, and too weak too hike out of here. I am all alone, this is no joke. In the name of God, please remain to save me. I am out collecting berries close by and shall return this evening. Thank you, Chris McCandless. August ?"

He screwed up and in the end no longer though of himself as the free-spirit Alex Supertramp.

    Movie romantic, reality not.

  • Lots of young people run and hide from their dysfunctional families. Many have use drugs and alcohol as an escape / adventure, sometimes with deadly consequences.

This guy used cross country travel and societal abandonment as his drug. He basically overdosed on some delusional notion that he could live a poetic solitary life in the wild unprepared. Sad but true.

  • Love the movie, absolutely brilliant. For people who'have already read the 'Into the Wild' and were interested, read tolstoi, that man thought of some great ideas back then.

  • Stupenda, davvero stupenda

  • before i die, i WILL go to a pearl jam concert :]

  • #OMG a goocl movie to download it роор.su

  • Blame Sean Penn for his (Alexander Supertramp) boots being exploited!

  • dude i never said it wasnt calm down you gunghoe faggot thats right i said i said faggot so dont go politaical on me you faggor

  • fuck i tried to promote a guy by sticking his link on comment spots but it doesnt let me, thats a shitty dead youtube, for that, kiss my ass. Look up Matt Anderson Magnolia. you will enjoy it. Also look up matt anderson I'm On Fire, or So Gone Now

  • the film puts you on a constant low for days...

  • man this one always make me sad :/

  • damn this is good. i need to get this whole album

  • @jokerclownscar man the whole album is so easy and relaxing to listen to, i suggest u get it :)

  • Watch "Brother Son; Sister Moon" and "Francis of Assisi". He, St. Francis, did something similar, but was more productive for society. He taught people to not need ego, rageful anger (just anger being OK, if charitably applied) and other worldly stuff and hang-ups. Life is much easier when put in God's hands, though it doesn't mean to do nothing and wait for your needs to come to you like manna.

  • this song and the movie have one thing in common, they are both horrible...

  • @MrJmg77

    wtf are you talking about?

    explain yourself...what is so horrible?

  • I'm Supertramp... and you're super apple!

  • What makes you happy is being happy.

  • What makes you happy is being happy.

  • Great Video! Mr.Catfish

  • Love this song!!! -Mr.Catfish

  • such a beautiful song

  • Someone like Chris makes us look at ourselves much closer. I think that is hs gift.

  • lubie Edka

  • he vibratos his voice too much

  • its actually a song for damien echols a man whos on death row for murders he didnt commit free the west memphis 3

  • This song was written by Jerry Hannan not by Eddie. You can see/listen to Jerry's version on youtube.

  • @edemvedson why do people always need to point out these things...

  • @anathemapariah because some people appreciate the real story/origins of such masterpieces . . . Does it really matter? No, just a courtesy for artists and music lovers. I personally feel that Jerry Hannan's vocals exude more emotion in his version. Eddie is a vocal genious yes, but the song takes on a different power with Jerry's vocals...it's these sublties that some appreciate knowing...

  • @turbotgnx1 thats army rve. get it right maggot!!!!!

  • @turbotgnx1 dude i never said it wanst gunghoe faggot yeah i said it faggot so dont get political on me faggot

  • @turbotgnx1 I love faggots and gravy delicious.

  • did eddie write this song especially for the movie? it goes perfectly with it! I love eddies work(: he sounds greatt

  • I think he only wrote a song or two for the movie, mostly covers. Can't be arsed to google it.

  • WOW go to google maps and type in: Christopher McCandless

you can actually see the bus !!!!

  • ok, queers...this song was written and still played by JERRY HANNAN. Eddie Vedder covered this song.....he never wrote this ....

  • these are the types of songs needed to be played. I know that it might not be everyones thing but the meaning is so important in this song. It has to much beauty to pass up.

  • Yep! I STILL love you, Eddie!

  • great song.

  • evoke so many feelings... love the voice, lyrics, message, movie.... and life! Happy New Year from Tokyo. Stig

  • Good soldiers die on the field of battle quenching the needs of fat politicians greed .. Sensitive men die in the wilderness because the injustice is overwhelming.Praise be The Lord is near,

  • Amen ruelof, Amen!

  • and...how many sit silent while it is more true that the people are the government, they represented and reflected by "fat politicians". this problem of 'war' is a human problem, and its name is ignorance, and ignorance in its fear is represented and reflected by arrogance. neither are without their fair share in it. and yes...Praise be The Lord is nigh...always and in all ways.

  • great song!

  • Feel all of it!

  • Well, now, Eddie Vedder's voice is new to me. voice and lyrics and guitar string touch are lovely. Thank you.

  • Eddie has 1 of the best voices in the world!!!

  • great lyrics presented by an incredible voice. Chris had no responsibilities, for us that do leaving society isn't possible. Perhaps changing it is... Wonder how much I can give away before my day.

  • Eddie vetter, never heard of em, now I have. Good music.

  • eddie VEDDER... not vetter... hows that possible??? never heard of this guy??? vedder is the closest thing of god youll ever see in your life...

  • naaa, Abe Lincon, he was worth remembering, Teddy Roosevelt too....Bruce Springstein, sure, Eddie Vedder, nice music.

  • well... since im portuguese and my political ideology is something that lies between a woman`s legs the two first you mentioned mean nothing to me... concerning the third... the eighties are long gonne :D... about vedder, vedder is a presence, a voice that you listen all the time in your mind and in your heart... a voice taht surrounds you all day long whispering in your ear : "beauty exists and its out there.. go ... go and search for it... " ... vedder makes you believe...

  • well, its nice to see we still have loyal music fans....good listening to you!

  • You got it right there, friend. Vedder never sold out. He was there for me in my teen years! Corduroy pulled me along. Cheers eddie.

  • Actually that would be Neil Young...Eddie would agree himself, but I do love Eddie. I've wished he would release a solo folk album like this forever...I wish he would break away from Pearl Jam and put out music like this. He has that genuineness that Neil Young has and that voice of his is so elegant...

  • Who gives a crap who wrote it !! It's such an amazing song and a credit to Eddie's voice !!

  • This is not Eddie Vedders song. He covered it for the movie. Its written by Jerry Hannan

  • That's wrong, Jerry and Ed wrote it together while doing the soundtrack to into the wild. I think Jerry wrote most of the song but it was made for the film and id call it as much as a eddie vedder song as a jerry hannan song. It's not a cover atleast.

  • You mean Jerry and Eddie sat down together and wrote the song? But Jerry wrote 'most' of the words? I don't think so. Where are you getting this info? The soundtrack clearly states that Jerry Hannan wrote the song. Jerry did write it for the movie but it is certainly not 'as much as a eddie vedder song as a jerry hannan song.' If you want to get in a argument about it technically not being a cover becuase it was Vedder who made the song famous thats one thing but give credit where credit is due

  • Hej Magnus my dear ex-workpal, writing the comment here...: Yes nice song..and its probly new, but these kinda songs make me wanna lay down and just wait til someone turn back the clock 25-30 years /Today sucks so hard, what happened to everything that REALLY means something

  • that's the song

  • Genius song! Genius film too! I love Eddie Vedder and the whole idea of this incredible film.

  • tugs deep down on my soul in such a mysterious way..

  • I love this song!!!!

    Compliments Eddie!

  • McCandless was a Libertarian

  • Green Anarchist I always thought?

  • Yes, McCandless was ill prepared. Yes, he probably was a city boy who underestimated what it takes to survive in the wild.

However, you who criticise the film and McCandless for this have totally missed the point. Into the Wild is not Survivorman or a special forces training video.

You people need to mature emotionally to appreciate McCandless and the film.

McCandless was perhaps a naive idealist. That does not make the story less beautiful.

And no, I'm not a city boy myself.

  • "Probably underestimated" is an understatement. The very society from which he was running was a kid's playground compared to nature's cruel, cold and harsh treatment to those who do not know how to live within her limits! Utopia does NOT exist and he learned the hard way. Anyway, the only beautiful things about the movie are the soundtrack and the fact that the ones he selfishly left behind grieving for him get to experience him again and again, albeit via celluloid.

  • Well said. People bitch about the movie saying "this didn't happen / that didn't happen ...". So what ? It's a movie - not The Gospel Story of Chris McCandless. And it's a beautiful movie. And for all the people who call him an idiot etc. - how many of them will be remembered ? How many would have the balls to do turn their back on society, prepared or not ...

  • i totally agree janrlf. there are a few really deep and meaningful messages to take from this movie. and i also agree that critisizing mccandless is to miss the point. the point being that he lived the way he actually wanted to, the way that he thought HE should live. not the way that everyone around him thought he should live. i bet he was truely happy bfore he fell ill. how many of use have the nerve to pursue happiness with such passion.

  • @janrlf the film portrays him as this romantic, motivated, driven man. when in reality it is quite possible that he was an ill person, i have heard claims that he showed symtoms of a schizophroenic personality. Having read the book, you see that there really is nothing romantic about what he did, and that his greatest motivator was fear.

  • @getz21 At least, he did what he wanted and has inspired to a lot of people about what he did. And us, what will we do as a volunteer for this community?

  • @caxu911 what

  • @janrlf He went out there to kill himself. He was angry at his parents. It is a tragic story, but he wasn't stupid he knew if he was not prepared then he would struggle. He knew what he was doing.

  • @janrlf Very well put. I have felt this way my whole life. I have lived in 18 cities and 5 states and can't stop moving, and can't stand ownership of anything. A free spirit in a heavy world.

  • @janrlf he may not have been fully prepared but he was told nobody could survive 'till spring, and what did he do? he survived over a year nd a half on his own in the wild. i think he was pretty well prepared, and he knew it would be rough

  • @shrimpy punk He arrived in the Alaskan wild in April of 1992 and died the following August. He lasted approximately 113 days.

Chris was just some arrogant, ignorant immature mentally ill young man. Too bad he did not seek out all the great philosophies of the world. Had done this he may have realized that the ancient east holds a wealth of great wisdom.

He could have known the difference between relative happiness and absolute happiness. Absolute freedom, justice and health.

  • @janrlf

the most awful part is that right when he realized that he didnt want to be so isolated, he got poisoned and started dying...........that movie makes me almost cry

  • @f00lishkl0wn ALMOST makes you cry??? I bawled my eyes out.

  • @janrlf McCandless may have been from the city but he knew what he was doing or else he would have died 3 days after treking out into the alaskan wild. He survived 113 days out there. He knew what he was doing. He just a very poor mistake by eating those berries.

  • @risingpower189 It wasn't even that they were the wrong kind of berries. after the film came out, they found out that the berries had a mold on them and that's what they think killed him.

  • Says the mind-reader

  • great voice, also compliments to the the author of the lyrics

  • Without a doubt the GREATEST voice of my generation! Eddie u will be remembered forever as one of the best...

  • Long live self-rule. Long live anarchy. Thanks Eddie.

  • Ha.. nice Foolchild.. nice! lol

  • It's good to see an enlightened person discussing an artist which they seem to have a great understanding of (note the sarcasm... I understand it doesn't work so well over the internet)

  • Absolutely, and every artist has the right to evolve in their craft.

  • This song and especialy this movie is one of a kind!!! It gives you a lot themes which you better have to think about. You are not you`re fathers son and not you`re mothers doughter...you are always youreself!!!

  • thats an interesting point of view but sounds very lonely. You must relate on people.

  • it's very beautiful music i lve " into the wild "

traduction : c'est une très belle musique j'adore " into the wild "

meerci de créer de magnifique chef d'oeuvre

  • pretty sure evolution is supposed to be ironic

  • Fantastic

  • Love Vedder, he's great... singer... awesome voice. but get real people, chris had good intentions but he went about it all wrong. Right motivations, hey I don't like the way things are going either, but you don't see me trying to learn how to breath underwater and then dive to the bottom of the ocean with no scuba gear and wonder why I can't breath and drown

  • geat book, sad movie, perfect song.

    thank you

  • i want be free like chris it's my dream

  • Me too except i may just travel. when i run out of money Into the wild at that point. may bring a suit case of drugs cause im retarded, and a stock of food. ill be close to society to get like fruits from the grocery stores. fuck college.

  • Spoken like a true non producer - lemme guess, when you get sick and die, you'll blame it on society and the producers in the world rather than your own stupidity

  • you and me both brother.

  • same here ....this movie made me think a lottt about life and the way we r living in nowadays...

  • He's dead 100 days into it...not a great way to go either!

  • why don't you make your pilgrimage to the volcanoes of hawaii. Make sure not to bring any heatshields. Also, make sure to not learn, or maybe forget all you know about boiling hot lava and what it does to people. Just bring a sleeping back and a lucky rabits foot. Find some bus to sleep in nice and close to one of the active ones... I hear they're pretty hungry for more idiots.

  • Been there, done that. Still here.

  • Comment removed

  • I agree but you must understand this isn't his song and many from this album are not.

  • Eddie Vedder rules!!!

  • and the answer my friend...

    is blowing in the wind....
