@Bacardi4206 After a while, you don't have to think anymore in total war because AI is really easy to defeat and I like I said, if the game is hard, it's all because of AI cheats. If you really need to think as much, it's surely the only RTS game you played. Last Total war games are really casual and need nothing to play well compared to RTS kings; Cossacks, American conquest, Histwar.
@TheMetaldriger never wait to expand your land early, cause you don't want to struggle against all the Mr.Big out there. Mass train ashigaru until u have about 6,7 provinces, then you can focus on better units.

I guess the game is may be playable with some mods that changes stats, add units and change AI but they can't change the engine. I don't stand the collision, it's terrible. The siege battles are too easy for player because AI don't react much, they just keep moving to you and wait for beeing killed. (Played in very hard) And navals battles are totaly fail.

I was not found of Empire TW cause it lacked that melee shock : infantry / cav charge & those bloody epic battles that you could find in Medieval II. I'm glad Shogun will bring these back.

You could have orc, elve or human army (or other races). Reenact lord of the rings or create your own reign of destruction or clense the earth of the orc pest. I think that anyone who has seen lord of the rings has been waiting his whole life for this kind of game, sci-fi geek or not.
@drakenlorde I like this game though. Different clans DO get different units, but only a few distinct units. And the animation, even to the battle scenes, are quite sufficient and good.
The trailer can actually pass of as a movie, so you can't blame the game for that.
@1234yersiman I know they're small difference betwen clans but they're so little. Even empire total war, which the 50 faction are really similar, have not as clone factions. For the animacians, I blame them about working only on graphics to raised their sale but they don't care anymore of the gameplay, nor of the shogun total war player who was expecting a real sequel.

Its a good pace, and the lack of unit variety could be seen as a blessing in order to balance the game to make it more reliant on tactical thinking rather than having a variety of units with different stats, or indeed, in the case of empire/napoleon, similar units with slightly different stats. The campaign map has also been streamlined incredibly.
@drakenlorde Uhh... I don't know much about medieval Japan, but just how much diversity do you expect the different clans to have? They are all in the same country, a small island, so I wouldn't think each clan has huge differences between them...

@XviZoR88 Ofcourse they are not exacly the same but the format/scenario is:2 armies, one dressed primarly in blue the other in red.We have the red inside a town, and we see the blue advancing towards it and a shot of the red army general and his stuff.Then the red make an exit, the two armies stand oneabefore the other and then they charge with fast shots betwen the two running armies that clash and the action swifts between one one on engaments.Even the friiging music is almost the same!
I'll admit there are similarities but come on, how do you not make an animation of two armies that focus on swordfighting not look similar to other videos that features the exact same thing?

Actually, the word Samurai is also in the plural form, so the title of the movie was referring to the last free clan of Samurai in Japan. If you do not believe me check it out at IMBD, under the trivia section.

Actually the movie and the book are inspired by the story of a french military in the 19th century.
Of course, he never wore the samurai outfit and I doubt he has ever been called "the last samurai", but he was very impressed by their way of living and their leaders.

There will be gunpowder units in the game, but remember this is based in 16th century japan. At best the firearms are Extremely primitive. They were so bad infact they were abandoned for several hundred years until muskets reappeared in japan in the 1800's and sloughtered the samurais into retirement for good.

The Shogun's (government in our countries)rebels took up firearms and kicked them out of rule, giving back all power to the Emporer. After that the Japanese encouraged foreign influence, until it was able to overpower them with their own armies. :) Yes I'm a historical nerd
@Beinggreatfull Yer I have, fantastic movie. Probably the most historically accurate movie I've seen on Japan (apart from the America, whom had very little activity with Japan after the 60's). That was based on a rebellion (possibly Satsuma) in the 1870's. It was a attempt to reinstate the Shogun after they where abolished from rule. But, obviously, sword on gunpowder, no match, even for samurai

@Shrike12 What a narrow minded and ignorant idiot you are.. China has an extensive history of war. Many Japanese samurai and their leaders studied Chinese books on warfare. I have seen an Fan made game based on the Chinese "warring States" period being produced. It is called "All Under Heaven".

Actually, the word Samurai is also in the plural form, so the title of the movie was referring to the last free clan of Samurai in Japan. If you do not believe me check it out at IMBD, under the trivia section.

If it helps you feel any better, I am american and I did not like that degree of licence. The Japanese would have never taught a westerner their fighting style or Kata. Even still is that way to some degree.

Actually the movie and the book are inspired by the story of a french military in the 19th century.
Of course, he never wore the samurai outfit and I doubt he has ever been called "the last samurai", but he was very impressed by their way of living and their leaders.

There will be gunpowder units in the game, but remember this is based in 16th century japan. At best the firearms are Extremely primitive. They were so bad infact they were abandoned for several hundred years until muskets reappeared in japan in the 1800's and sloughtered the samurais into retirement for good.

@Babylauncher3000 Sorry dude, but the Japanese COMPLETELY abolished firearms and any-other European weaponry until the 1850's when America pretty much forced itself in.
The Shogun's (government in our countries)rebels took up firearms and kicked them out of rule, giving back all power to the Emporer. After that the Japanese encouraged foreign influence, until it was able to overpower them with their own armies. :) Yes I'm a historical nerd

@Beinggreatfull Yer I have, fantastic movie. Probably the most historically accurate movie I've seen on Japan (apart from the America, whom had very little activity with Japan after the 60's). That was based on a rebellion (possibly Satsuma) in the 1870's. It was a attempt to reinstate the Shogun after they where abolished from rule. But, obviously, sword on gunpowder, no match, even for samurai

I remember playing this at a friends house so long ago. He was showing off the computer he had built.
Obviously, the graphics have improved exponentially. Anyone know about the system requirements for PC? I think it's being released a little after the console versions are on the shelves.
I admit, I've been pining for this title and was wondering if it would ever be redone.
I've noticed the people who are the potential customers are more on the mature side.
