Reds fan here but also a big fan of Luis Tiant. How this guy is not in the HOF is beyond me! He was a real man. Threw 160+ pitches in three WS games in 1975. Back then pitchers pitched complete games. None of this coming out with 90 pitches after 5 or 6 innings. Mention Luis Tiant and most people never heard of him which is a real shame.
He belongs in the Hall of Fame. Most wins of any Cuban pitcher. Tied for 21st all-time with 49 shutouts. Pretty amazing when you consider more than half of them were after his fastball was diminished due to injuries. There are a LOT of pitchers in the HOF who can't match that.
I actually met him at west palm beach airport heading back to Boston. Wasn't real outgoing lol but when I asked for an autograph he pulled out a pic of himself and signed it.
