If a stanger assumes he just speaks English, and they talk to him in English, then what is the harm in answering in English? It's not like they're ever going to see him again. They could have spoken to him in Japanese if they weren't racist.

hey, thanks for your comment. You raise a good point. I do have to be careful when I speak Japanese because 7 out of 10, they begin asking questions like "why" I speak Japanese so well, where I was born, how my grandmother is Japanese, and how I went to Japanese school, and all this without them even asking for my name. Or me asking for theirs. It happens so frequently. And sometimes it's just easier to be a 007-11 agent. But thanks!
