I saw my first shooting star while I was getting out of my treestand deer hunting. It was dark, just passed legal time...I didn't get anything that day, and as I looked up I saw it for a split second. One of the coolest things ever. I just love nature

that's too bad. If you want to see one, go outside on a clear night. It must be absolutely clear. Stars must be visible in all areas of the sky. Now, lay on your back and look up. Watch the sky without talking, only breathe and blink as needed. I promise, you will see at least one falling star. Cloudy skys and impatients make the falling star rare.

I can tell this is a cascade image intensifier, possibly a p8079hp. This is a selective area of the image, the center is actually in the upper portion where you can see a rough circle of sparkles. This is caused by a tube that is going to gas (going bad.)

great shot, if you are into software, you might be interested in max msp ? you could make a patch that would record to Hard drive only when there is movement in the sky at night. you wouldnt miss a frame either if you use a delay. as well, all the clips would be stored in a folder saving you from having to search through hours of footage. lots of tutorials on youtube of max msp and great support in the forums. peace.

i saw 3 on august 15. And i was only out there for about 20 minutes! I was camping away from city lights too so the sky was really dark. And there were no clouds. Shooting stars dont actually fly across the sky, they fall straight down. One of the 3 that i saw was really big and long. It was so long that i was actually waiting for the impact on earth. lol
