depends on wind, weight, air density....... exact vertical app. 900- 1500 ft/ min, with forward speed less, depends on the speed you fly. Best speed for low gliding angle is between 60 and 70 miles.
A wise man said always fly downwind at about the height you're comfortably able to turn 180 degrees and land upwind with the engine off. That starts off at 500' for then to 250' after 50 hours.
There is a video of Chuck Beaty or someone doing downwind runs 10' above the run way, cutting the engine then doing a whip turn 180 degrees and land.
So the guy in this vid ended up getting killed in this machine?..it that correct?

@turnaful I believe he was aerobatting it to a nervous german pupil and overloaded the rotor which invoked a stall with the tragic ending

It is sad to hear the pilot died at a crash with this Gyro.
My deep expression of sympathy to his family and friends.
Is it known why that fatal crash happened?

landing, tuch down, between 10 and 0 km/h, depends on wind, weight, air density......

I'd secure those rear belts a little tighter.

Is it possible to land softly in an auto gyro below 500 feet with engine out starting at low speed? I've yet to see that on YT.

@tubewacha Heck yes. Maymake a yt video of it :)
Practice is all it takes.

@tubewacha Depends on wind conditions and your definition of low speed.
