The Internet is being used to revolutionize societies. Tell your Congressman to rewrite the “Employee Freedom of Choice Act” so it uses the Internet to allow workers to request and conduct union votes DIRECTLY with the NLRB. Truly secret votes where employers can’t identify and fire organizers. Force employers to bargain with unions 30 days after a successful vote. Bring in an arbitrator 30 days later if no contract is in place. In 2012 VOTE for Obama, House & Senate majorities and pass it!
Teacher/ public employee unions have agreed to all the cuts to their health care and salaries. What they are protesting is losing their rights to bargain over working conditions (such as class sizes and safe hours for healthcare workers)
There are many ways to protest. Get a list of all the people who put this Nazi in power and find out what corporations they work for and boycott those companies. Threaten THEIR incomes. It may be about power for the KOCH Brothers but it is about money to the IDIOTS who voted for the Nazi doing the Koch's DIRTY WORK. If they sell don't buy from them, whatever they are doing, don't do business with them. BOYCOTT RIGHT WING BUSINESSES!
Union or No Union will not come anywhere close fixing a 3.6 billion dollar debt. And busting up union labor will see many skilled workers leave to more Union friendly states. I do not see the threat that unions pose to anyone, all i have heard is speculation.
@PunkLavender96 How is he acting like a dictator? the bill has to pass through the state assembly, which happens to be a GOP majority because the people of Wisconsin VOTED them in. That is democracy. Walker did not appoint these representatives. Further more, 48% of Wisconsinites are in favor of Walker's bill while 38% are in favor of the unions. Wisconsin has spoken.
@xevilwalksx So why does an election give Walker the right to institute no bid contracts for the Koch dealers? Walker is also cutting public education funds so he can put that same dollar amount into a voucher program that would pay rich families Wisconsin tax money to send their kids to a private school. That voucher program helps some poor students into a charter school but the rich families it helps do not need to play on my dime. Pull your head out. These Wisconsin families knows what's up.
Workers in Massachusetts will be having a rally in support of the workers in Wisconsin at the State House on Tuesday, February 22nd from 4-6. MASSACHUSETTS SUPPORTS WISCONSIN WORKERS AND THEIR RIGHT TO COLLECTIVE BARGAINING. The Gov. of Wisconsin needs to go!!
@PREDATORUSPREDA I work in a non union company and have no problems with the way I am treated, except pay. But with a bad economy it is not realstic to expect more. My employer has not laid off anyone. I do not agree with this bill, because I believe it will not help anything. if it passes be prepared for an exudus of Teachers and others.
It will be very difficult to get new teachers into Wisconsin without Union power. the 3.6 bilion debt does not help. The education system is in trouble in Wisconsin. If it passes I think many teachers will leave Wisconsin for more union friendly states.
to everyone whining about the budget shortfall... guess what - scott walker created much of that deficit with his new corporate tax breaks. the rich get richer, and the middle class gets squeeeeeezed out of existence. when will we wake up and see the writing on the wall - repubs are for the rich, and against everyone else. dems are not as evil, and therefore i will vote for them. they are pro middle class, even if they do ignore the poor more than they should. as a country we are drowning
We do not have the money! They are $3.6 billion in debt in Wisconsin. You think they're gonna be able to secure loans with this kind of thing going on? and borrowing money is not going to help the situation. They have a balanced budget amendment. Either the states and the country will go bankrupt and collapse in total economic anarchy, or the unions will lose.
What the hell! Why are we not protesting Wall Street? We continue to pick on the middle class. The wealthiest of our nation (2 percent) hold the most income in our nation. Why? This is so discusting.
How ironic that one week after the world watched in admiration the people of Egypt take back their rights from a dictatorship - the republican party of Wisc tries to impose a dictatorship on its own people.
May the people of Wisc show as much strength and determination as the people of Egypt - who would have expected them to share so muchin common.
Republicans were toast. They had just lied us into an unfunded war and engaged in war profiteering. Their fear mongering over terrorism wasn't working anymore. They had deregulated Wall Street causing the crash. They looted the treasury for bridges to nowhere and gave huge tax cuts to the rich.
Facing near extinction they launched a campaign to reinvent themselves as fiscal hawks and started screaming about the deficit they created but now blame on Democrats and Unions.
an analysis right in the point from a labor view!!! first time i came across!there is hope for America! i think nearly every simple worker here in Greece is supporting wisc. teachers fight!
Cowards? Look who's talking. You are willing to trade rights for money, so long as the rights aren't yours. The worst part is that the unions are willing to pay in provided they were given the opportunity. The problem is that they are. A giant portion of citizens are not being represented any longer and they are not going to be allowed to represent themselves. Budget deficits occur often in our system and are corrected in time. Why is this one being treated so differently?
You made your statement based on your inability to carry a concealed weapon? And don't try to trump me up as some left wing liberal, I own a concealed carry permit in GA where I live now. But I was born and raised in WI for 20 years of my life. My entire family has worked or currently works in public education and has worked hard all their lives. So really you just called my family lazy thieves, correct? And you don't even understand the issue. Nice.
I'm in Madison. I can assure you, it's not about the money. Peoples' rights are being axed without negotiation. 30,000 people are downtown today, twice as many as yesterday. Tomorrow there will be double that number. If you think snatching away workers' rights is fine and dandy, your rights will be next to disappear. This staggering blunder could very well wind up being the downfall of the GOP!
@hudsongrrl I support private sector unions, but not public sector. They're on their own. Anything or anyone preventing me from shrinking the size of government, is a hinderance to liberty.
@hudsongrrl Not likely. union membership is dropping faster than Bill Clintons trousers. Greedy public sector unions who want to tax the "rich" (anyone rich or poor who pays state property taxes). The overburdened taxpayers will decide the outcome of this fight across america. California started with Prop. 13 in 1978 to prevent democrats and public sector unions from taxing Granny from her home. It's spreading to other states. Corrupt and greedy unions are on the way out. Wake up.
@IP0Monsturd Unions would only be corrupt if they were run by corporations for the rich. Since the rich have lost some buying power they want to cry like little babies. Republicans have heard that cry and ready to jump in and stop the crying for their masters. Even Fox is wishy washy on this. It scares them. Remember they were for it before they were against it. Real wofflers. Fox is spending more time talking about going to war in Libya.
@IP0Monsturd Look in the mirror that young pussy you once were has been turned into one large gaping pussy. hehehe Only your masters could tell us for sure. But cross your legs if you feel gas coming on.
@hudsongrrl When public sector unions negotiate for their "collective rights" WHO SPEAKS FOR THE TAXPAYERS THAT PAY FOR THE UNIONS GAINS ?!!!!!!!! WHAT ABOUT THE RIGHTS OF THE TAXPAYERS WHO ARE BEING GOUGED ?! We don't have a union - so I guess we are not "workers" right ?!
@MetalDetroit Dumbass Walker negotiates with the state union until they recall him from office or re-elect another governor. Pull your head out...............you are thinking like a teabagger.
@ISUCN Do you suck owners cock for 25 cents a pop? Anybody that talked the kind of shit you do must hang out at traffick lights looking for some lonely republican you can get paid for blowjobs. Everybody be careful or this republican troll will hit you with a bag full of quarters.
@teabaggersblow Be nice little feller. Ur not a union employee are u? They should consider giving their jobs to the underprivileged like those poor black folks who could use a well paid job with full retirements so the don't have to rely on those greedy republican u so dislike. So be nice and give your job to those that really need it. U'll feel better inside if u start thinking about others for a change. God bless you my son.
@hudsongrrl " If you think snatching away workers' rights is fine and dandy, your rights will be next to disappear. This staggering blunder could very well wind up being the downfall of the GOP!"
Spoken like a proud deadbeat ! Congratulations, however, if Walker adds 250,000 new jobs and zeros out the deficit, you silly assholes will be singing a different tune. Walker was re-elected twice in Milwaukee as the only Republican because of his fiscal restraint. Bye-bye freeloader !
First the teachers do not get the summers off. They have to go to school and are mandated to quite a number of class each year to keep there teaching certification. Second, they also have curriculum work that is done during the summer. Third, they take home homework that needs to be graded almost daily. Fourth, coaches such as the football coach puts in over 300 hours for about 3k Do the math (and thank a teach that you can do the math), I doubt that you would work for that little.
for the idiot that said teachers were protesting on "...our tax dime.." First they were not paid for not being in school. Second is our dimes and I would like to know why the 250k got a tax break (dimes we need) and not pay more "dimes" why don't you get pissed off about that? Dude its about the rich controling working class wake up.
Where does the PS (private sector must be a code word for corporations) pay for unions?
Broke? How about not giving the trillion dollar tax cuts to the rich? How abouot Wisconsin had a surplus? Yet the new deficite that the governor is pushing on is the exact same amount of tax breaks for the richest in the state. When is the richest EVER going to pay their share?
Well, the teabaggers seemed to have a hell of a lot of time on their hands to protest tax hikes when they got tax cuts. They had a lot of time demonstrating for something, and didnæt have a clue about what they were whining about. Guns, bibles, "freedom", and shit. Where are the teabaggers now? Where are their support of the 1st amendment to peacefully assembel associate and unionise to protect themselves from the exploitation of Big Business?
@bohemianwriter1 - Because most Teabaggers are full of shit. Most of these people are pro-corporate. They support Management over Labor. Ironic given most of them are labor themselves. These people view employers, business owners, executives and CEOs as godly "job creators" who create all goods, service and wealth and pay almost all taxes. They view the rest of us as hangers-on who are just lucky to be given a job by the "job creator" demigods.
That's the "ideal" way that we all hope would occur. But according to history...NO that has not happened. And seriously, did you not learn this in school? It's like 7th grade social studies. It's not just true because Rachel Maddow says it is but it's what actually happened. Can you please open a history book and research it. I can't believe you do not know this.
Unions also pushed for the secret ballot so an individual could make the choice with out presser from his boss. Now they want to take that away (see card check) so they can presser people. Well that's good and just of them.
*laughs* I did not magically make up that argument. You must not have paid attention to this video because that was stated. Many of the unions/collective bargaining and labor laws originated in Wisconsin. You seriously do not think that one person made a difference in the way we get treated now as employees...it was due to collective bargaining that you are given those labor rights now. Get your facts straight.
BUT Walker is not willing to negotiate this issue at all! Take away the unions and soon they will be taking away labor laws and stripping middle class/poor people of our rights and wages all together. Why target unions and public employees who are barely making a living already and forcing them to solve the state's deficit? Seriously, is this fair to you or does this even make sense? No!
To add, unions were created in order to secure those rights. Without collective bargaining, public employees or employees in general may be stripped of those labor rights. And besides it's clear that Walker is totally conniving since he left out the only unions who supported him during his election. I hope you realize that most of these public employees are middle class people who need these benefits to support their families yet they are willing to pay more for these benefits....
Really? So states with out closed shops have child labor, pay $2 a week and have sweatshop conditions? I didn't realize it was so horrible in those states. The teachers were supposed to have union rights in order to keep them from striking. Look how well that worked out. Imagine if the police striked? Which scenario would be worse? Only two instances of those unions vocally supported Scott, some supported Tom. Although I do disagree with his exempting any. Yay class warfare. I'm poor btw.
Unfortunately you are one of those poor stupid people who will suffer the most from this bill. I won't be surprised that you keep complaining if this bill does get passed. It's sad that you refuse to believe the truth and historical events that occurred to benefit you as a "poor" person. Besides, I hope you know that this bill has more to do with just teachers and unions but will also greatly impact UW-Madison and the UW-system as a whole.
Nice ad hominim attack. Can't argue you're point logically can you.
It will impact me. If my taxes don't go up to pay for their pensions I'll have more money in my pocket to pay bills. Yeah, I think I can live with that.
Your arguments are just so ridiculous and makes no sense. So are you suggesting that we should target people who are less likely to defend themselves or people who would cost us the least since you are stating that the police force striking is much worst than teachers striking. Now that's just plain dumb. You are completely missing the bigger picture and I realize I've been trying to educate someone who don't even know the issue. So good-bye. I hope you grow up soon.
Clearly it isn't a big deal if teachers strike. They walked out today and we still live. If police strike, then criminals would be able to do bad things to us. How is that dumb? I can make a cogent argument with out sounding like a 5th grader's "nuh uh" retort.
What does that have to do with anything? Is your underlying premise that if teachers have to pay some for their pension and have to pay %12 of the cost of their health insurance we won't have any teachers left and that people will turn to crime? That's absurd.
You are totally missing the point. Teachers ARE willing to pay towards their pension and health care. They along with the other public employees who are targeted are just not willing to give up their collective bargaining rights, which is extremely important for labor laws/rights. Well your last question is easy. You don't have to be in a union but thanks to the unions there were those labor laws for you. So yes, you should thank the unions for that.
Apparently WI doesn't even need austerity measures - could have surplus by end of year. Current shortfall is a result of the governor's own tax cuts! So sayeth the "WI equivalent of the Congressional Budget Office
@HabitualHobosexual they walked out monday and tues, but schools were closed wed and thursday, that's what I meant.....when the reporter said they walked out "today" I was referring to "today"....
@sevendustlady Fair enough but they still decided to show up to an organized event when they could have stayed home and watched Jersey Shore marathons or whatever kids do now days.
What part of this video did you not understand? We understand broke but that doesn't mean we will allow Walker to do w/e he wants to Wisconsin's middle class and public employees. The unions have done an incredible job for all of us who work: child labor laws, minimum wage, sick days, vacations etc!!!! And YES he is targeting people because he left out the firefighters, police, and state trooper unions because they donated to his campaign. SERIOUSLY!
LOL...YOU FOOLS VOTED THESE PEOPLE IN...YOU HATE THE DEMOCRATS SO MUCH BECAUSE OF THEIR LIBERAL IDEAS...NOW LOOK AT YOUR ASS...LOOKING REALLY STUPID HUH...AND SOME OF YOU WILL VOTE FOR THEM JOKERS TO BECOME PRESIDENT....LMFAO
@stampnsp2 I work for the state too and I agree with you. People just don't get what it will mean when the unions are broken. People have no idea what we state employees get paid and this isn't just about money. I'm saddened by the negative remarks people have made against us and our unions. Walker is out to destroy our middle class. You got it right its about Corporate America who guess what, gives money to republicans
hey suckorski321 are you listening to yourself if it wasn t for the unions you people would have nothing unions set the bar for people to make a fare wage , your gov. sounds like a real loser.
So you are wrong about the teachers holdiong America hostage. It's the GOP that have held America hostage ever since 9.11.2001.
It's Jo9hn Boner and his ilk that have kept the unemployed hostage just so they can give more tax breaks to their sugar daddies, and borrowing monoey from "communist" China, and stealing from the SS to pay for these tax breaks. GOP, and all RWers are scum. Some are too dumb for their own good... Specially Glenn Beck fundies...
Why not clamp down collectivelly on the GOP for default corruption, giving away the riches of the country directly to the pockets of the ones playing with other peoples money, losing them, and then come and ask for more by the same people they have screwed?
Why do you not want the teachers to have a living salary? Do you hate your own kids that much? Do youi really think itæs the teachers fault that USA is srewed?

These Wisconsin families knows what's up.

to everyone whining about the budget shortfall... guess what - scott walker created much of that deficit with his new corporate tax breaks. the rich get richer, and the middle class gets squeeeeeezed out of existence. when will we wake up and see the writing on the wall - repubs are for the rich, and against everyone else. dems are not as evil, and therefore i will vote for them. they are pro middle class, even if they do ignore the poor more than they should. as a country we are drowning

Good luck and stay strong.

I hate these bastards.

@hogger129

Broke? How about not giving the trillion dollar tax cuts to the rich? How abouot Wisconsin had a surplus? Yet the new deficite that the governor is pushing on is the exact same amount of tax breaks for the richest in the state. When is the richest EVER going to pay their share?
bohemianwriter1 1 year ago 2
@bacchas78
Where are their support of the 1st amendment to peacefully assembel associate and unionise to protect themselves from the exploitation of Big Business?
bohemianwriter1 1 year ago
@bohemianwriter1 - Because most Teabaggers are full of shit. Most of these people are pro-corporate. They support Management over Labor. Ironic given most of them are labor themselves. These people view employers, business owners, executives and CEOs as godly "job creators" who create all goods, service and wealth and pay almost all taxes. They view the rest of us as hangers-on who are just lucky to be given a job by the "job creator" demigods.
A lot of these assholes voted for Bush twice.

@bacchas78
Get your facts straight.
pkhang06 1 year ago

somebody please learn about CAFR's..

homiescopies 1 year ago
@bacchas78
No!
pkhang06 1 year ago
@bacchas78
To add, unions were created in order to secure those rights. Without collective bargaining, public employees or employees in general may be stripped of those labor rights. And besides it's clear that Walker is totally conniving since he left out the only unions who supported him during his election. I hope you realize that most of these public employees are middle class people who need these benefits to support their families yet they are willing to pay more for these benefits....
pkhang06 1 year ago
I'm poor btw.
bacchas78 1 year ago
@bacchas78
Unfortunately you are one of those poor stupid people who will suffer the most from this bill. I won't be surprised that you keep complaining if this bill does get passed. It's sad that you refuse to believe the truth and historical events that occurred to benefit you as a "poor" person. Besides, I hope you know that this bill has more to do with just teachers and unions but will also greatly impact UW-Madison and the UW-system as a whole.
pkhang06 1 year ago
Nice ad hominim attack. Can't argue you're point logically can you.
It will impact me. If my taxes don't go up to pay for their pensions I'll have more money in my pocket to pay bills. Yeah, I think I can live with that.
bacchas78 1 year ago
@bacchas78
I hope you grow up soon.
pkhang06 1 year ago
Clearly it isn't a big deal if teachers strike. They walked out today and we still live. If police strike, then criminals would be able to do bad things to us. How is that dumb? I can make a cogent argument with out sounding like a 5th grader's "nuh uh" retort.
bacchas78 1 year ago
Look at he big picture. Uneducated people, on average, become the common criminal.
4kitties 1 year ago
What does that have to do with anything? Is your underlying premise that if teachers have to pay some for their pension and have to pay %12 of the cost of their health insurance we won't have any teachers left and that people will turn to crime? That's absurd.
bacchas78 1 year ago
@bacchas78
4kitties 1 year ago
@bacchas78
