Anyone could use the very same tactics against the Bible itself to "prove" that it's unreliable. Hint, Lewis made long arguments to get to his main points, but if you look at only some points within the whole picture, it will, of course, not make a bit of sense, and even seem anti-Christian; the same way that only focusing on a small portion of the Mona Lisa would likely cause one to conclude that the whole thing was just paint chipping of a wall.

If Dr. Johnson (sorry . . . I said Dr. Scott in post 1.) wants to show that Lewis is dangerous, be my guest. But his attempt here doesn't even pass the sniff test. He could do a much better job, if it's a job that needs to be done at all, if he'd actually read and understand what Lewis was saying.

The man that led him to the Lord was "really into C.S. Lewis" (his own words again). Well, if Lewis is such a destructive force of Satan, how is it that he was led to the Lord by someone so into Lewis?

He's taken Lewis out of context - wildly out of context - but I don't blame him, for he had no choice but to do it, since he has never read anything from Lewis.

    Folly and shame indeed.

Dr. Scott should be ashamed. He said he never read C.S. Lewis. He quoted Proverbs 18:13, "He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him."

So, is he ashamed? I don't know. But, according to "his own words", he would have to be, if he really believes the scriptures.

  • i never heard of c.s.lewis. and lets keep it that way.

  • I don't blame Lewis for believing in evolution. I probably would believe it too, if i was living in times before genetics were known and evolution seemed a proven doctrine.

And from "Narnia" series i don't see either Lewis' believing in purgatory or not believing in literal hell. For me "Narnia" was a quite smart allegory of biblical history of the world, there was creation, golden age under wise kings, sacrifice of God's son life, end of the world and judgement.

  • I also think that Lewis was not aware how important it is to understand the Bible as God's inspired word - that was not so clear as it is now how Satan can use every deviation from the Word. Also, Darwinism had not then been exposed as the fraud it is - made it very hard for Lewis' generation to take the Bible literally.

BUT - I agree that anything that the controlled media and clergy likes, we have to watch out for!

  • People love there idol! I research this stuff as well, there are serious issues with C.S Lewis. The enemy will use anything to contaminate our walk, we need to stick to the word of God! 1 Peter 2:2 says that we must desire (or intensely crave) the sincere (undiluted) milk of the Word of God. Those who crave will investigate this warning of yours and those who have itching ears wont, because they have know real desire for truth!

  • CS Lewis introduced me to the concept of Christ. I don't believe he was a deliberate deceiver, though the intellectual and religious atmosphere of Lewis' Oxford was pretty poisonous. And I think he brought a lot of humanism and intellectual hubris with him into Christianity. He seemed to think it OK to reinterpret Christianity and bring in some bastard mystical stuff.

But I think Scott Johnson is somewhat naive and lacking in charity - in general.

  • Just an FYI, the Mormon church also teaches that Adam was Michael the Archangel. It is taught in Chapt. 6 of their "Gospel Principles." The Biblical references they use actually do not in anyway indicate the Michael became Adam, however their "scripture" does; (Doctrine & Covenants 107:54 & 55)...they teach that Michael was call Adam in the spirit world.

  • You said that you never read any C.S. Lewis, correct?
