If you raised the CR up to 10:1, you probably increased the hp from the original 90 to over 100. I had four of these wonderful/horrible cars as a teenager in high school. Three of them broke crankshafts in exactly the same place, btwn 2d & 3rd mains. I bought my 1st 100-4 driver for $200 in 1965 ~ here in the USA they start about $25K now IF you can find one. THANK YOU for restoring this important car ~ wonderful work there (Good on ya!). Nice camera work by your assistant, too.
Hi there, great car! I also have a 100/4. Since my car doesn't yet have a hood I got one with its frame. I am having problems though figuring our where the attachments from the frame to the car are. Could you be so kind and send me some pictures indicating what to do?
I would be extremly pleased if you could help me since here in Cyprus 100s are rare and have nobody to ask to. Thanx.
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old DOHC Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree
My dad used to have one of these, Back in the day! he crashed it an got it restored an got a cream an blue two tone paint job on it but it was later stolen :( but he got more than it was worth from the insurance company cause he had lot of pics of the restoration. Swings an roundabouts...
You've done a great job on the restoration. Looks like you set up up as a driver. Alternator, Toyota gear box etc. Good for you. These cars should be driven. I just finished a 4 year frame off, 64BJ8. Now my daily driver. Congrads on a job well done.
Beautiful Machine !!
