  • These dudes look like my next door neighbors.

  • WE SHOULD ALL LIVE LIKE THIS BUT OBAMA SHOULD GO FIRST...

  • Awesome program, I'm about to view all the chapters right now.

  • so are they smoking marijuana at 4:42? because that would be cool.

  • Waswe yufala olketa! Tagio tumasi!

  • 4:19

    :)

Finally, if you see any nice girls... please don't touch them

    :(

  • haha 4:42 mood change

  • This series is so good for the soul

  • this is a great documentary they are such great people amazing

  • if u see nice girls dont touch them !!!

  • The 1 dislike is from the person that got spit on at 1:19

  • Channel 4 won't let me watch this because I live in the UK even though Channel 4 is a British channel?

I had to use a proxy to watch this wonderful series.

  • i love this show ...

  • Modern culture has forgotten the truly important things..... penis sheaths.... if i get a boner in normal pants or shorts, everyone can see it. No one wants to see it and I'm embarrassed. We as a culture need to adopt penis sheaths. Who's with me?

  • they look very african to me and im african

  • Tom Navy is their hero

  • Dont Touch the nice girls ( Shocked looked )

  • he has a very good accent wow

  • they look a lot like the australian aboriginals. thanks for uploading!

  • whats the name of this tribe?

  • nakulamene

  • 4:22 - haha That was funny :)

  • why in the heck would they think Prince Phillip was some sort of a god? Could someone tell me please?

  • @johnson1095 well firstly theyve probably got different ideas of what a "god" means and is.

could just be a process of exaggeration, u see it throughout history, great heroes come 2 be seen as immortal, magical powers etc.

  • OMG they fly to singapore and then to london. i live in singapore xD

  • Is this the same tribe from the USA version? How do they have differing beliefs? I know they're not mutually exclusive but it seems disingenuous. Is the Prince a religious one, and the TomNavy is a philosophical one? Cause I swear I saw the chief from the US version at 2:50.

  • i think hes the elder for all the tribes on that island i think

  • thats really funny too!

  • Thank you so much, the tribe is so inspirational.

  • I just got done watching the entire Meet the Natives: USA series on the Travel Channel here and was excited to learn about its predecessor in the UK! I couldn't find this anywhere else. Thank you VanuatuVeritas!

  • I love this National Geographic

They are the one who sponsor this Trip for the natives

  • what is the name of that music they play at the beginning? where do I find it?

  • string band.

Theres actually a decent amount on youtube.

Try dokowia (tokosowia) island girl (aelan gel) for a recent nationwide smash hit

  • are they the aboriginals of australia?

  • No, Tanna is one of 83 islands in Vanuatu, which is a completely different country.

Only about 2 hrs from Australia though so they may have the same ancestors

  • is it good that we are showing them a new perspective on life or is it bad that we are diluting the purity of their lifestyle?

  • Comment removed

  • the translator is cute

  • i wish they came to my family. id love to have them stay with us!!!

  • What plant do they smoke?

    Did he say Kava? 4:46

  • No they DRINK Kava, it looks and tastes like muddy water.

They're probably smoking tobacco in their pipes

  • are they african?? or not?

  • No.

  • hi. i also thought they were from the african continent but i found out that they're from vanuatu, which is in the south pacific near australia. they are of melannesian ancestry, similar to polynesian tribes. who knows, they might be of a branch of african descendants that accidentally sailed to the pacific but we currently don't have that valid discovery yet.

  • @EZ3Xicano

No, they're from Vanuatu, in the South Pacific. It says that in the video.

  • I just watched all the episodes. THANK YOU for uploading them. I had no idea they did a series with them before. I loved it!

  • this show makes me happy but also sad. it makes clear how the west has lost there way, trapped in a culture that puts so much emphasis on the accumulation of material wealth that we've forgotten what it is to be truly human. those in charge have divided, conquered, poisoned, and brainwashed us, now we chase after money and spend our days at stressful pointless jobs, leading unfullfilling lives devoid of love and happiness. for many of us our only escape is drugs, alcohol, and tv

  • @andrewcramer13 This show is a piece of propaganda made for the naive couch potatoes. Watch a documentary titled "God is American" for an alernative view on Tanna (which will let you realize not everyone is simple and happy there).

  • @clray123 thanks for the suggestion. ill check it out

  • A typical pissy response by someone raised in the west, who considers our way of life to be too complicated and fast paced. First of all, shame on you for spitting in the face of our ancestors that broke their fucking backs their entire lives to give us such an easy life style. Secondly, unless you are tribal and live off the land and partake in none the eases of life that the industrial revolution has brought us (like running water and readily available food) then feel free to fuck off.

  • @andrewcramer13 it was because we were living that is why our ancestor were easily captured by european. I totally understand you point tho but we shouldn't forget that if we some of us hadn't adopt other culture maybe the european would still be colonizing us until today.

  • we must begin living like the people of tanna. lets come together and reject the system that teaches false values and encourages us to forget real ones. lets trade the pursuit of material wealth for true wealth - the love of our fellow people. we have a lot to learn from the people of tanna - simplicity, love, peace, and happiness. suicide, murder, depression, and drug abuse are all a product of our diseased culture, how often do you think these things occur on tanna?

  • Fuck off and go live in some hippie ass commune and get it over with.

  • @wadeblasingame LOL!!

  • @andrewcramer13 I just want to point out that the people of Tanna have their own drugs in the form of kava and tobacco. Drugs are used by the majority of people on earth. Coffee is a drug. It is the most popular and most widely traded drug in the world. I bet you drink coffee.

I agree with you on the most part but drug use is a personal choice and if people choose to take drugs for whatever reason then that is entirely up to them. I know a lot of drugs are dangerous but some are not.

  • This proves how little we are different from each other. Humans are ONE.

  • the USA cable Travel Channel just copy this and brought 5 of these guys of their own. Very funny, they so far live with redneck cowboys in Texas and Eat with 2 gay guys in New York. who asked them if there are gay marriage in their culture. The natives was shock and confused lol.

Even more funny they were shock that there is such a thing as homeless people in USA. NO homeless people where they live. HMPH

  • "The sad truth is that truth is sad..." -Lemony Snicket

  • i saw it announced on the travel channel -to air this past sunday, but i had to miss it and now i dont know if it'll air again. do you know where i can catch it? im looking all over and cant find it

  • They lived with working cowboys in MONTANA, not Texas.

  • The Montana episode is uploaded now.

  • I LOVE this show! but I want to know why they didn't get to visit the real natives of this country, the native americans? that would be great to see!

  • They saw a native American when they stayed at Orange County...

  • got to agree with silentnightwhisper on this one. Can't help but notice an agenda

  • the variation in hair color is interesting

  • This is a great great show. Too bad it has an aura of liberal bias along with it.

  • what do you mean?

  • Liberal bias? What do you mean?

  • watched it last night. this show is fuckin amazing

  • lol at " we hate Boston"

  • Oh god, how I love this show. Thanks for the upload for this one!

Ooh yes, please upload the USA one! Thanks!

  • aww they were so excited about getting bread

  • ergh at one point they showed a lot of views of their lwoer half

  • I will upload the USA series very soon

  • 4:20 ... I laughed so hard!

  • Well said mate.

  • wow there much happier then we are. they were like the native americans no one was selfish, loving and were happy for the rest of there lifes. i wish this were like my country china, the dumb idiots over there dont care about there traditions. every one is so materialistic these days

  • Jimmy, can you put on the full series of Meet the Natives: Usa? Thank you!

  • makes me realise just how we have forgotton the joy of life, makes me quite embarassed to be English. i love this series x

  • its a new experiense i love this and i love my life as it is and so i think u hope alright

  • sounds like quakerism to me

  • Those guys have some rugged beards.

Also, I am excited to watch the rest of this series !

  • LOL

  • This was the most heartwarming and enlightening films I have ever seen! It really opened my eyes to how we just think that we live better than other people. Watching the differences in culture was also amusing. I laughed until I cried when one of them ate the cup of butter! He looked like he was sick afterward, but of course he was much too polite to complain!

  • they seems to be so so nice..

  • They are happier than us.

    That's all that matters.

  • i disagree. just becuase we are americans dont mean we are not happy.

  • Can't wait for the new series, "Meet the Natives USA."

    I'm sure hilarity will ensue.

Starts 15th of November 2009 here on National Geographic.

  • Wow...this is an awesome show. I love this tribe, they are very nice people.

  • they seem very quick to learn about the modern world despite not living in it. nice people

  • sorry, but it's too late for us. great show anyway. i've watched it last night.

  • for those who say it is too late for us in the 'civilized' world it is not!! You can become happy again. It aint that simple!

    1> find innerpeace

2> share, help and love one another

    3> eat and drink healthy

2> Dont grasp for things wich you can't reach

like all the Materialistic stuff they feed you with cuz you never will be happy even with all the 'great' stuff you have!! you only want more and more!!

3> Talk about these things with fellow brothers and sisters no mather what colour or 'race'

  • can you only count to 3? rofl

  • I watched this last night!! Awesome stuff man!!

  • Hey seriously THANK YOU VERY MUCH for showing this.

It was on Television last night in New Zealand but I missed it, and of course when I went to Channel4 website (english) I was not allowed to see it, arghh!!!!

    Very interesting.

The rich 'first world' has severely lost it's way in my opinion.

  • lol yea hes not aloud to touch the woman LOL

  • i like the reaction of the guy at 4:20 -4:25

  • WUHAHAHA he looks a bit disappointed.

  • haha yea lolz

  • lol amazing!!

  • what's the title of the background music?

  • wow circumsision other than jews

  • THE PRETTY GIRLS HAHAHAHA

  • they make it seem so easy to have peace among all... i don't think we can ever change back to that...

we might have facebook but we've lost the most basic ties between people

  • hahahhahhah very funy when they wear underwear with their bush in it hahahahhahahaha goshhhh

  • this was featured on nat geo...and i always miss it...good thing theres you man thank you for uploading this video

  • 4:20 to 4:25 is funny.. hahaha!!!

  • omg that guy was like....damn no girls in the city today!.

  • You should come visit Singapore one day!

  • too many natives from johor there already...

  • singapore is a malay country dont forget this

  • dominated by Chinese now...

    haha

  • yeah

  • "very so often, we get visited by white men with cameras.." SOO CUTE!!

  • PRINCE PHILLIP???

I fell out of my chair. I can't wait to see what sort of horrible faux pas Phillip makes when he (I assume) eventually meets these poor chaps. Google Prince Phillip gaffes for his great record on cultural sensitivity.

  • i cant find tanna on google maps

  • Its in Vanuatu. In the South.....

  • These guys are so sweet but I wish they'd put more clothes on in parts of the show because it's hard to know where to look but apart from that, they seem very sweet and they have a lovely community where everyone helps each other out. I wish it was more like that in our society. Most people don't even know their neighbours where I live and no one bothers to help you if you have a problem and yet we think that we're civilised! I think we could learn a thing or two from these guys!

  • its almost the same almost anywhere..the more modern we are the more uncivilised we actually become..i miss the days when we dont have high tech stuff and arent so materialistic and so on..neighbours i have dont even talk..used to it though

  • Thank you for posting, I very much enjoyed this when it was aired back home in England 3 years ago, especially the perspective of our absurdities such as the social Ill's we have like homelessness, tis good to see it again on u-tube,

    `Ceol..../(^\/^)\

  • I mean no offence,

    I respevt you alot,

you are just cute and small!

  • We are not jungle Pygmies.

  • thanks for putting up
