  • Was a young (is there any other kind?) Marine PFC deployed to Vietnam on the Ogden. Left San Diego in January, 1966 loaded with the First Field Artillery Group out of 29 Palms. Off-loaded parts of the group in Chu Lai and Da Nang in February, '66. Had heavy weather passing through the Phillipines. The Ogden was brand new, we were the first Marines to throw up in her campanionways. She was no rust bucket in those days.

  • AWESOME video! I was on this deployment, so I got to experience this storm, as well. Fun stuff, especially being on aft lookout during all of that :o

  • USA rules the waves. Top respect. But I can't feel at ease with the Hollywood accent.

  • I was on the USS Vancouver LPD-2 in 1992-95.

We hit stormy weather as well. I remember one we hit at night. When we went through the wave it turned the bridge windows white.

  • I was a Marine on the USS Ogden LPD-5 back in WESTPAC 90-91 during Desert Shield/Storm. I was a 81mm mortarman (0341) with Weapons Co., 1st battalion 4th Marines (1stMarDiv) 13th SOCMEU, 4th MEB. There were Force Recon Marines, Alpha Co. Marine Infantry, and Navy SEALS on board also! 10 months on that rust bucket! Surprised it's still around. We visited Phillipines, Singapore, Hong Kong, and in the field in Oman. We would of visited South Korea and Australia but Desert Shield started.

  • cool, how many guys get sick on their first days? how long does it take to adjust and stop losing your meals

  • @lejink The whole first day sucks even if you don't get seasick. Finding your balance takes time. makes you dizzy, lightheaded, and not feel so good.

  • @lejink thats a good question i would like to know my self
