  • If you don't mind some thoughts............Xingyi strikes land with the whole body behind them, but you are trying to go so fast that your front leg isn't staying on the ground, you are bouncing yourself off the bag, and knocking yourself back. When your foot lands at the same time as the strike, your body will naturally sink down, to keep that rebound action from happening. And the power of Xingyi elements is in the BACK hand, that is what drives the front hand and creates the whip motion. :)

  • Nice moves man! btw wtf have you got playing in the background?

  • Very cool! I do Hung Gar and have not seen much Xing yi! Keep up the hard work!

  • great that you have respect for the traditional martial arts. props!

  • the speed is incredible! not to mention u have long arms and legs for reach, i finally found something that i liked watching, and i never heard of the style Xing Yi Quan before! i like this.

  • Cool man! I wish I had a hanging bag! Keep up the kung fu striking its rad. Good power.

Wow you get a lot of thumbs up. I always get thumbs down. You cant make anyone happy on youtube when uploading personal martial arts videos...

  • @MaharlikaAWA i treat martial arts like religion. All of them have pro's and con's. None of them are perfect. (my opinion). people are the same. Ultimately, at the end of the day, all you can do is strive to perfect your own personal style, and be the best that you can be, and use the genetics you were born with to the best of your ability. Dont worry. people hate on me too! saying im too open minded, and I should only follow one way. We are individuals! :D .

  • @randyds5 Yeah at least I know you are not a joke like those fake ninja guys and people like dan blowen who start fights and act like ass hats.

Anyway I like traditional martial arts guys that try to use them in actual combat situations and spar a lot. I am pretty much a HUGE MMA fan but love traditional martial arts too and think its cool to spar MMA style with them.

  • @MaharlikaAWA i love all martial arts. Old and modern. personally, i have a Jeet kune do mindset. Take what is useful, and discard what is useless, and add what is your own. I took that philosophy and applied it to everything in my life. Politics, religions, you name it. In the end, all knowledge comes from our own limited understanding. Everything has pro's and con's. The same goes for TMA vs MMA

  • @randyds5 Interesting. I personally like to mold TMA and MMA together and not make a difference. I really cant stand delusional TMA guys as much as I cant stand delusional closed minded MMA jocks. For me I lift weights, do cardio machines, try to eat healthy, as well as do Taekwondo and MMA style stuff and grab what I can. JKD is cool. Well may God have mercy on you and show you the way. You are a nice guy man!

  • @MaharlikaAWA Thanks. I agree with everything you just said. and iam truly sorry that I pre-judged you earlier. Even though our beleifs are different I "jumped the gun". I shouldnt have been so "malice" in my opinion. You cant judge all christians the same , and you cant judge all of us agnostics the same. We are all unique. Thanks for discussing with me. Your a good man. Work hard!!! lets continue to fight for our dreams

  • @randyds5 ya man lets kick some butt! Also you are a REAL agnostic and not a fake one. You know atheists disguised as agnostic or the "agnostic atheists" popular on youtube. lol. see ya man. KUNG FU!!!

  • Solid. Looks like your tightening your movements down, calibrating for the bag impact& swing factor. Sun Lu Tang was fond of punching old Iron cannons in the morning for his warm-up Xing I practice. Maybe you could sand-bag down that punching-bag frame, w/ the added weight you could really put that full penetrating force into each punch. Moving it away form the wall a bit may also let you really step into those elemental fists. Good job man, keep up the good work.

  • @pranakhan thanks. And i have heard that story about Sun Lu Tang. Sometimes I practice hitting trees. So, I think its a good substitute. lol.......not many cannons around here. Thanks for the advice and compliments. Take care

  • How much did that bag cost you? holder and all.

  • @sage4000 it was donated to me. But, you can get a good deal on craigslist. Buy a used one for about 50$. Otherwise, a new bag will cost around 75-100$ for a basic punching bag. The stand actually sucks. I have a "free hanging" bag now which is much better, because you can circle around it and use footwork

  • I'll take the arthritis to have hands like rocks.

  • @123UncleRuckus Then you'd never be able to hold a drink again, think you are perhaps thinking of callus, unless you are implying you would like your hands to be clenched like a rock forever.

  • I could see this guy handling a street fight in NYC against everyone who is throwing around western boxing hands and footwork.

  • Xing I structure is created to strengthen bone joint and senew, this is work towards eliminating the threat of arthritis, the sand and jow is the kind of work that leads to the ailments of old age. Just a word to the wise

  • No true self respecting Xing I man would use gloves for bag work

  • @Ancientimmortal Tell that to a guy with severe arthiritis. Wear and tear baby. Its all about preservation. When you train as much as I do, wear and tear means alot. I do shaolin sand conditioning on my hands with jow. Just preference.

  • @MarioRomualdo21 Thanks for the input. Your master is probably a great martial artist. But, I disagree with him (respectively of course). No disrespect, but go into a boxing ring and keep your head "straight up" , like you mention. I keep my chin down, head down, to protect my jaw and chin. Also, if I do get hit, he will hit my forehead and break his hand. Its not a good idea to keep your head straight up in a real fight. For forms practice, it is ok though. Thanks again for watching brother.

  • @randyds5

I'd recommend practicing on your rooting more and pushing your mingmen back. There is a "kink in your hose" from the energy coming from the earth to the plam because the butt is not fully tucked under. There should not be a curve in the lower back, it should be flat.

  • @doctavious See the above response. if your practicing solo forms, you can keep your back as straight as you want. But, I invite you to go into a boxing gym and keep your head straight up. Your gonna get Knocked out real quick. Its ok if you want to be super traditional and just practice forms, but if you want to use it in actual combat, you better keep your head down. I like Chinese martial arts, but damn, they turn the simplest thing into rocket science

  • @doctavious I watched this video a few times and you're right doctavious. He's not sitting in San Ti. If you look at his footwork he's modified it. I guessing for mobility and speed. If you're on the battlefield with a spear you can stay low and "march" towards your opponent. If you're in the ring spears are usually out of the equation and marching in will get you bloody real quick. It seems Randy is not trying to be too traditional in his approach. From this demo I don't plan on testing him

  • @sasoriko you are correct. Iam not a pure 'traditionalist". I like to blend western methods with eastern methods. I use a hybrid boxing/santi stance. I have a jeet kune do mindset. Absorb what is useful. Discard what is useless. And add what is essentially your own. Thank you

  • @randyds5 Exactly! I started as a JKD stylist but after learning more about Bruce I became multi faceted. I do traditional martial arts and find different ways to apply them functionally. They all have their expertise and preference, but I tend to take a more Shaolin approach by dividing things into their base elements and then combining them based on the individuals attributes, temperment, goals and ability. When you look at history the Chinese were not afraid to experiment so why are we? Ciao

  • YES! I love the Metal Gear Solid theme! Good stuff.

  • Nice Xing I. Maybe you'd develop even more power if you relaxed your back a bit? Just my impression. Peace

  • @CNCTEMATIC THank you very much sir! And my back is relaxed. Its just that my back is very muscular. I dont work my arms that much, but I do alot of back and leg work to develop power. On the other hand, at a higher level im sure I could relax even more. thanks again

  • way to put all in motion.. i like how you use your body even in guard.. and that leg sweep!! i dont see that around!

  • @walking1way Thanks for the compliment! Have a great day- Randy

  • @randyds5 you too ..keep on training!!!!!

  • Looking good Randy m'boy, keep going at it :)

    Cheers!

  • keep it up and learning more. find your niche

  • @polariswushudotnet thanks. i really liked your videos. Your a pretty determined fighter, I also like how you fluidly transition your traditional training into impromptu free-style training methods. Nicely done

  • That's really good, clever practice, good energy! I'm impressed!

  • @raphamundsen thank you my friend!

  • Idk, is it me, or was that a burst of energy at 2:07 that flickered the camera....

  • @Fastdogg562 haha, yeah, thats a powerful kick

  • @CLFDevil I know alot about Baji though...I have researched it alot. And yes, they do have alot of common things

Awesome! I just had one of my students fight in his first muay thai match. Congrats man, keep it up!!! and dont forget Choy Lay fut in your arsenal!

  • @CLFDevil I know of Baji and have seen videos on it, but never studied it formally. Its power distribution is similar to XingYi, but has a larger frame to it. Its deffinately a powerful system. Why? Are you studying it?

  • I need to start training with you again...I won't be down there this week-end due to prom, but in two weeks I'll definately be over there, unless something constrits me from doing so, but I highly doubt that will happen. Talk to you soon Randy.

  • @rainingchampion well, i have a wierd work schedule, but just contact me, and im sure i can work something out

  • That is how I train. Good to see others train the same.Peace, Randy.

  • @taoboxer9 thanks Taoboxer. You should post a vid sometime. Thanks for the kind words

  • Interesting stuff man. Keep up the good work.

  • pretty sweet
