  • Swagger...so effortless!! BIG RESPECT to James Brown. His music never gets old. All generation will love his music & be inspired by it.

  • That bass is way out of tune. Yes. Love James but fix that bass.

  • @proctor940 Nothing wrong with the bass player. This is just not a very good recording or the sound got messed up during the transfer. James doesn`t allow any slacker bass players. Everybody knows that. lol

  • @knightd12 No I am saying that the player is fine. That bass guitar is definitely out-of-tune. Listen.

  • @knightd12 No I am saying that the player is fine. That bass guitar is definitely out-of-tune. Listen. As a matter of fact the bass player is one of my favorites. I just realized it. That is Sweet Charles Sherrell. He also played alot of clavinet live in the 70's.

  • woe! is it jus me or does anyone notice the satanic symbol 1:07on the back of his robe?

  • @thakozhani -Strange, indeed. Looks like either a devil or a Taurus bull figure. Or maybe a Gargoyle.

  • the cloak is so pimp

  • lol man that bass is killin me!.. i wonder if james fined him for that after the show???...

  • @muzikman183 , actually, it's said that Sweet Charles Sherrell was a very good bass player. I've heard he was on par with Larry Graham and Verdine White.

  • I don't doubt it. I know JB kept the top musicians in his band(s).. But THIS bass is was outta tune or somethin.. and knowing how much of a perfectionist James was, i wonder if he noticed it.. lol great show none-the-less

  • O.K., I'll listen again.

  • You must have really good ears, because I could barely hear it :-) Either way, I agree that it was a great, classic JB finale.

  • Maceo,St Clair and Sweet Charles are there.

  • Great video. I counted at least three drummers and ten horn players. The Soul General and his Funky Army hard at work in Al Shrpton and Bill Clinton's back yard, Harlem, New York.

  • THANK YOU!!! I've been waiting for someone to post this. Does anybody know where I can get the whole Motown Returns to the Apollo from 1985?? It was awesome from beginning to end.

  • Try itunes

  • american music would not be the same without you...

from one apollo theater winner to another

  • I remember this so well. Bill Cosby was the emcee. This was from 1985, I think. Right?

  • @utubeissad very right :D
