Take downs rarely finish fights... if you call that a robbery then so is every fight that is won by points as per rules, I guess that counts off most of Arona's wins. Actually Fedor swept Arona every time he got the mount (no points for that either). Have you seen the fight, at all? Consider also that no strikes to the head were allowed in RINGS. If anyone was ever robbed, it was Mezger when he fought Arona.

He dominated Rampage standing up and on the ground, he could finish the fight by submission after that kick on Rampages face, wich almost KOd Rampage. But he did nothing.

He had a legit loss against Shogun but, if you compare the earliers fights you will notice that Arona had to face Wand, and Shogun had to face Overeem, Arona got a much harder match and faced Shogun totally exausthed.
Facing Shogun and Wand at the same night is totally bizarre, these 2 were the most dominant fighters of his weight class and they just destroyed anyone Pride put front of them.
tturbo I agree with you on alot; but honestly Shogun's fight vs Overeem although shorter in duration was more physically demanding and dangerous than Arona's decision win vs Wand.
As for Arona being robbed vs Wand in the 2nd fight; I also disagree. Wand came through in that fight, landing the more decisive strikes and even escaping back to his feet and not waiting for a restart.
I've been critical of Arona; he's a BJJ black belt, that seldom sub's opponents. He's strong but lacks flexibility
I disagree about "harder fight", Shogun's was much more difficult & dangerous. You bring an interesting point about Shogun vs Wand; obviously Wand was champ, and there may have been some preferential treatment in order not to pit 2 team-mates against eachother. IMO Wand porposely lacked intensity vs Arona ; the result was obvious, he lost a decision and the torch was passed to his young team-mate Shogun.
The big thing about Arona is, his fights are boring for the viewers, becouse they just dont understand what the hell hes doing.

He clearly won Wand on their 2 fights (on that Pride time, Wand destroyed everyone on his weight class) but, Arona destroyed Sakurabas face, and both the organization and the audience got real mad about him, so, even winning, they declared Wand the winner.
That Fedor fight, Arona clearly dominated Fedor for the entire fight, they declared a draw, and then, they declared Fedor the winner, same tournament they did a mistake by giving a loss to Fedor instead of a NC.
Rampage cheated. If you watch the slam replay in slow motion you will notice the huge headbutt rampage did on his chin, Arona was totally winning the fight and almost KOd Rampage. The only legit loss he had was sokodjou and Shogun.

Headbutts are not allowed by pride rules. Also a higlightreel shows the GOOD things a fighter has done, so obviously you pick the best moments from each fight.

Good fighters have been treated badly during the transition when Zuffa bought Pride.
Rampage is the one with the belt for beating Liddelll. Arona didnt come to ufc so who knows how he would've done. but a minute before the powerbomb slam he damn near KO'd Rampage in his gaurd. He even stopped striking him and called it out to the ref. he was ahead on that fight before the slam

Actually Arona dominated the entire fight until that powerbomb moment.
He dominated Rampage standing up and on the ground, he could finish the fight by submission after that kick on Rampages face, wich almost KOd Rampage. But he did nothing.
Rampage won, but come on, he was far from owning Arona.

Dominated? No, Arona wasn't dominating. He was fighting in his normal conservative fighting style. 2 knock outs to his resume of 18 fights and the majority decision. I wouldn't say dominate.

He dominated the fight since the beggining, but Rampage has a very good chin, he just felt that kick Ricardo did to his face, and i dont know why Ricardo didnt finished him.
Rampage has credits for that powerbomb aswell, he has some insane strenght.
He lifted Arona like a 5kg ragdoll.

He had a legit loss against Shogun but, if you compare the earliers fights you will notice that Arona had to face Wand, and Shogun had to face Overeem, Arona got a much harder match and faced Shogun totally exausthed.
Facing Shogun and Wand at the same night is totally bizarre, these 2 were the most dominant fighters of his weight class and they just destroyed anyone Pride put front of them.

tturbo I agree with you on alot; but honestly Shogun's fight vs Overeem although shorter in duration was more physically demanding and dangerous than Arona's decision win vs Wand.
As for Arona being robbed vs Wand in the 2nd fight; I also disagree. Wand came through in that fight, landing the more decisive strikes and even escaping back to his feet and not waiting for a restart.
I've been critical of Arona; he's a BJJ black belt, that seldom sub's opponents. He's strong but lacks flexibility

I disagree about "harder fight", Shogun's was much more difficult & dangerous. You bring an interesting point about Shogun vs Wand; obviously Wand was champ, and there may have been some preferential treatment in order not to pit 2 team-mates against eachother. IMO Wand porposely lacked intensity vs Arona ; the result was obvious, he lost a decision and the torch was passed to his young team-mate Shogun.

Arona will be fighting at ADCC this year, he still an undefeated champion in ADCC, a really good choice to represent Brazil in there.
Probably he will come back to the MMA after that.

The big thing about Arona is, his fights are boring for the viewers, becouse they just dont understand what the hell hes doing.
The other thing, he really has a bad luck.
He clearly won Wand on their 2 fights (on that Pride time, Wand destroyed everyone on his weight class) but, Arona destroyed Sakurabas face, and both the organization and the audience got real mad about him, so, even winning, they declared Wand the winner.

That Fedor fight, Arona clearly dominated Fedor for the entire fight, they declared a draw, and then, they declared Fedor the winner, same tournament they did a mistake by giving a loss to Fedor instead of a NC.
Rampage cheated. If you watch the slam replay in slow motion you will notice the huge headbutt rampage did on his chin, Arona was totally winning the fight and almost KOd Rampage. The only legit loss he had was sokodjou and Shogun.

true there was a clash of heads, but it was purely accidental(don't think Rampage cheated) just look at the positioning and the speed at which he was slammed. I know the moment you refer to when he hurt Rampage but I wouldn't say he was close to being KO'd. Regardless it was 1 powerfull slam.

ADCC is pure grappling. Fedor has great MMA transitions but for submission grappling he is untested. Sambo ground game is a joke compared to ADCC. Whoever plays against Fedor first between Roger Gracie and Arona will sub him. If Jacare is in the absolute Jacare will make a mockery of Fedor.

Every fighter knows BJJ or wrestling, but only fewest are really good at it.
Arona was the only real athletic high level BJJ fighter he ever faced, and got totally dominated.
Minotauro is other world class BJJ fighter but Arona is much better, the guy is an ADCC undefeated champion, plus, he has the best takedowns on MMA.

no he what he meant is ricardo scored 5 td's attempted 6 subs mounted, side controlled and back controlled fedya for 80% of 2 rounds. while fedya fought off subs almost getting choked out, was controlled and lost every scramble... now why there was an overtime round... only god knows...

arona totally dominated fedor for the whole 2 rounds, plus, the whole 2 rounds 95% of the fight was on the ground, not standing up, and arona just played with fedor like he was a ragdoll, watch the fight then you talk.

First of all, Arona owned that fight untill the illegal slam came. Rampage admited himself that he headbutted arona on the way down and you can clearly see it. Headbutts are not allowed by pride rules. Also a higlightreel shows the GOOD things a fighter has done, so obviously you pick the best moments from each fight.

Well it tells me that Arona could actually have won that fight if it wasn't for page and i actually believe Arona would beat Rampage to this day. Arona has SICK takedowns and is at least as strong as rampage. The reason he doesn't have his belt is that the UFC doesn't sign with him. Good fighters have been treated badly during the transition when Zuffa bought Pride.

Rampage is the one with the belt for beating Liddelll. Arona didnt come to ufc so who knows how he would've done. but a minute before the powerbomb slam he damn near KO'd Rampage in his gaurd. He even stopped striking him and called it out to the ref. he was ahead on that fight before the slam
