Saw them perform this live in St. Louis during the tour supporting this LP (remember those?)...good performers - almost sounded like a soundtrack it was so good.
I used to confuse this band with CHARLIE SEXTON. Look up Charlie Sexton Beats So Lonley to listen to what I mean. Both are great. I love this song, thanks for posting it. 5 STARS.
Charlie plays here in Austin a lot. His brother Will is good too. Check out Bob Schneider if you hadnt before, he's pretty cool. Merry Christmas everyone!
20+ years later, I still love this song. I was driving yesterday and this came on an XM retro station, and I was just grooving along with it. Fun. THANKS.
One of my faves. This video spawned a lot of late mac lookalikes but have to say me included, great style - ah those days of Petuly oil, leather, black drainpipes, dessies and VO5 spray gel! Carried on through macs Candleland era (ace albulm) but great cheeky shot of Pete, a sad loss of a brilliant drummer. Went to excellent Royal Albert gig couple of months back - shame about the couple of botherers tryin to cause a rammy at the front - pogo yes but stay off the speed, planks!!
mezmerising!! The bunnies finest moment wudnt listen to chris martin singin dis coz ders no way he wud sound kool singin this like Mac. Guitars awesome too
Recuerdo que habian muchas versiones de esta canción, long version, 12`, en studio, muchas. No recuerdo cual era la que bailabamos en las fiestas new wave. Solo recuerdo que esas épocas fueron fenomenales!!
i think its the leather clothes and the hair. McCulloch's a little old now, but he'd be perfect for the role if they ever make a sandman film. Lets hope he can act
I was introduced to Aqua Net by my grandma. She had a huge old lady hairdo really high on top of her head. It was plastered with Aqua Net. She use to get her hair done at a beauty parlor. The "rat's nest" story made me think of her. :)
Haha!! I used Dep Gel and Aqua Net. At one point I used to use so much hairspray that a girl broke her nail trying to run her fingers through it. Of course, that's what she gets for trying to mess up a cool 'do!!
I probably shouldn't be admitting any of this. My kids might read it and lose all respect for me.
Aqua Net in the white can...no 80's hair-do could be without it. Also Stiff Stuff...lived up to it's name!! My punk friends with the big spiked mohawks use to use Crest toothpaste!!
aqua net...do they still make that stuff? i'm sure if i could smell it again, it would jog a million memories of days gone by. i remember everything i owned was coated in it. nothing worked better at defying gravity, even in the worst humidity, lol.
Yeah, I remember the big hair all right. One time at a party, a girl was swinging her huge hairpie all around while we were talking and it picked up my lit cigarette and it bounced around inside that rat's nest sparking the whole time and I couldn't get a word in edgewise to tell her because she was yammering on and on in Vally talk. So kids, please be careful with the AquaNet. Thank you.
if i just heard this song on the radio, i would of thought it was bono singing. this is my first time every listening to this group & they're pretty good.
BONO?! OMG! Ian McCulloch would go into a rabid fit! U2 was an opening act for the Bunnymen back in the day. "Mac the Mouth" never had a kind word for them.
Check out "Heaven Up Here" and "Ocean Rain" cds...wonderful beyond all reason.
"Mac the Mouth" is what McCulloch, Bunnymen front man, was known as in the 80s. Used to slam Bono and U2 all the time...called Bono a "soddin' mountain goat" among other things. Said the members of Gene Loves Jezebel were all ugly and that two years in the army would straighten out Boy George. He used to say the most outlandish things...like telling his band mates they had his lips and face to thank for the houses they lived in!!! I think he was hilarious and sexy as all get out!
Well I just saw them live in Liverpool last month! Please to say he's still as mouthy & overconfident as ever. When introducing the full live performance of Ocean Rain, Mac stated: "This is, if not the best album of all time... it's better than most... " YA TWATS!
There is something so very special about the Bunnymen and only a precious few seem to get it for some reason. But for those of us who do....aren't we lucky?
LOL, totally! The 80s fucking ruled without all this Pete Wentz Good Charlotte EMO bullshit...I mean how are these people allowed to make music and actually sell it
I only became interested in Echo And The Bunnymen about 3 years ago, I now have Ballyhoo on CD, and apart from Seven Seas, this is my favourite Echo And The Bunnymen song. I think Ian McCulloch sounds like David Bowie in this song.
Love echo and the bunnymen...Ian is such a tease, gives you just a little taste of this and that and no matter how much you watch this video it is never enough...you just have to have more...
