Since Google took over Youtube I have not been able to access my biffhero account. My e-mail for that account wasn't a g-mail account. Anyway I have also been to lazy to figure out how to gain access again....
while the ignatz escapement may lack true oscillation properties, it compenstaes with loads of charm! i need to build one of my own one day, if for no other reason than in reference to my youtube avatar.
heh. just last week, i added that cog to an airfly design. of course, like you, i had to modify it to suit my own satsifaction, but for more than just ego salve this time; it was just too large and heavy to be practical for my needs. i'll post a video of it soon.
@KEvronista I need to speed up the pendulum so each wrap is consistent. There are a few vids that show non lego flying pendulum clocks and you can see how consistent their timing is. I know how I want to make it work better but getting the time to actually do it is another story.

maybe shorten the strings? an air fly might give you a more consistent swing motion, but it'll demand more power. just tossing out ideas.
