In my opinion, the "Suspiria" theme ranks right up there with the "Halloween" (1978) theme as the GREATEST themes, or soundtracks, in horror movie history.
Such a distinct sound. As soon as you hear the first note you, immeidtaely, equate it with the film. Absolutely, brilliant! I love it!
It's a playback. Goblin has nothing to do with the decision to use the playback, it was common for television shows to replace the actual live performance audio to that of the studio version for the actual broadcast. So the only ones who heard them play for real were the people in the audience.
