  • Maybe because it's a small amount of salt, it just tingles on the way down? Maybe the oil neutralises the anti-demon properties. Hmm, actually, does salt water work, or does it have to be dry, granulated salt?

  • Anyhow I dont think the first time i posted this made SOOO i was the guy who asked this question! thanks sooo much for posting this!

  • Yeah it's Folsom Prison Blues, Dean uses a salt in a shaker to fight off the ghost of a nurse.

  • but... for some reason I keep thinking I've seen someone pick up table salt to use against a ghost at some point, but I can't recall any details...

  • She can eat the salt of french fries because it is iodized salt. Only non-iodized salt can be used to repel spirits and demons. Table salt wouldn't work on a demon, only rock salt like what you put on sidewalks when they are icy.

  • Sorry But as I have pointed several times at the con, In the episode All hell breaks loose Sam uses a bag of salt he finds in the old abandon store. The chances of that salt being non-idolized are slim. And in several other episodes they use whatever is in the house to make a circle. See family remains and no rest for the wicked.

  • If you read John's Journal he states that only non-iodized salt works on repelling spirits and demons. I'm not sure why they used table salt in those episodes, but they shouldn't be using iodized salt on ghosts or demons according to John's Journal.

  • Good point IDK why they aren't consistent either, I havent read John's Journal so I wouldn't know anything on that. All i know is what i see on the show. but yeah i just asked the question and they didn't know so that was awesome! right?

  • That is pretty awesome. Next you should ask Master Kripke and see what he comes back with. That is the person to ask to find out the truth. It was a very good question.

  • that IS a really good question!!!!!!!
