  • I'm puttin a DP100 Super Distortion as my bridge pickup and a PAF 36 anniversary as my neck pickup on my strat. And my middle pickup will most likely be some kind of single coil.

  • prefer the stock

  • Sounds great man!

  • @fcatrin ohh gracias man, te pasaste :D a penas venda mi guitarra voy a lograr la telecaster haha donde encontraste la twang king? no la he podido encontrar en ninguna parte, soy de viña igual

  • Sounds cool, I would put switch the pickups around though because the fast track makes an awesome neck pickup.

  • It's people like that who make telecaster owners like myself look bad. Firstly, it honestly sounds nothing like an Ibanez. Secondly, the neck sounds just like a telecaster. To me, it seems like he made his guitar more versatile. A guitar is a piece of wood. It can sound however you want it to sound. Please come down from your most holy 'tele twang' pedestal for a second and realize that.

  • @OakPark11MileRd next time I will get the guitar that you like, sure! ;-)

  • @OakPark11MileRd that doesn't change the fact that you can't tell the difference between this tele and a standard Ibanez (RG series I guess)

  • @OakPark11MileRd I own an Ibanez RG320 and it sounds radically different. If you can't tell the difference, I'm sorry for you-

  • why would anyone dislike this? dudes got a killer tone on a cheap tele, whats not to like?

  • didnt know that zach galifianakis played guitar! :D

  • now fix those god awful tuners

  • TOO much Gain...

  • @TheV4D3R There is a response video with clean tone

  • The FastTrack 2 is designed for the Strat. This guitar had to be modified in order to fit the FT2.

    Go for the Chopper-T

  • @fcatrin Modified how?

  • I can't find a fast track 2 that has telecaster fittings, i can only find the fast track t. Is that what this pickup is?

  • thats such a fat sound from a tele, i love it. but it still retains that legendary tele twang. perfect balance.

  • Hi mate it changes the sound of the guitar by putting that pill? Greetings

  • if you say "twang king" fast you get a certain word....

  • @sunnyjim98 lol

  • What is your proble people, i think i have not seen any video with Squier written the right way... IT IS NOT FUCKING SQUIRE IT IS "SQUIER"

  • BILLY MAYS HERE!!!!

  • Thats the way to do it, man. Got my Squier Jagmaster with Dimarzios. Nice guitars for the money. Wish mine came in white.

  • hey man can I ask you something? I have a dimarzio fastrack 2 in the bridge of my strat and on the same setting on my amp with both knobs turned up full, the strat has the annoying single coil hiss thing going on, yet when i put my inbanez with humbuckers in, on the exact same settings it is completely quiet. Also the humbuckers on the ibanez sound way chunkier. The ibanez only cost £200. Have i wired my ft2 wrong? I heard they are the same as humbuckers but stacked? Mines dosn't seem like it :/

  • @flamen89 that could very be a wiring problem or just due to the how the hot the pick ups are wired. i would expect hum from this style of pick up.. im having the hard task of finding a replacement for my tele pick up as hum in the studio is a huge pain in the backside.

  • That sounds fantastic. You know it's a Tele, but with more grit.

  • Anyone looking to duplicate this experience: Squire's "Vintage Vibe" series is really really good, not to mention it's a PINE telecaster like the first tele's ever.

  • good sound!

  • When you replace the pick-ups, replace the pots/jackplug/selector/tuners as well, otherwise they will drop you in trouble.

All considered, it still doesn't sound like ash or alder- the biggest contributer to the classic fender tone.

  • i have a fast track 2 on my strat and LOVE IT. if you own a strat, get this pickup and a 500k push-pull pot. sounds AWESOME.

  • Why..why...WHY does everybody demo pups with overdrive and distortion? Don't you guys know that some of us out here actually play with a clean sound? I couldn't tell the difference between a $160 Barden and a $30 GFS with that set-up. PLEASE re-submit a CLEAN sound demo for us old fart-purist-country hillbilies.

  • Playing some Blues Traveler?

  • Fast Track 2 ordered

  • ...and without distorsion it sounds ?

  • that is a hot sounding guitar man, good job i'm considering doing exactly the same :)

  • @BostonWidowers yeah man i got a shit ass rg 320dxqm off ebay and first i suppsed it up with tonezone then put in a fukin paf joe and now i put in a push/pull pot and 3 way switch now it sounds KILLAH!! i can get pauls or any1's tone really :)

  • whoa! lovely sound.

    Congratulations dude!

You should b endorsed by those, cause your vid made me buy these things hehehe

  • Woah, that's some great tone! And nice E arpeggio ending!

Can't wait to mount my Twang king neck and bridge along side a hot minibucker in the middle position to my Warmoth Tele when if comes in. Maybe watching telecaster videos isn't the best way to help me wait......

  • ive just watched a video here of the g.e. smith signature tele...must cost about 1500 at least....ur squier sounds nearly as good!

  • Great tone from that behringer! Do you use it in every vid?

  • @mullen2105 every one

  • Wow man, you made it sound awesome. I thought id never hear a squier tele sound that good lol

  • Not a bad cheapo guitar

  • Dude, that guitar sounds really good, in fairness to you. Was thinking of buying a squier tele and modding it. Was debating between the dimarzio pickups you have, or a pair of fender 51 nocasters. Keep in mind i have a les paul and i really want a twangy lively light punk sound (like some of the early green day sounds).

And before anybody says it, i already have a very very good amp, all i want is to have a modding project on a different tyoe of guitar.

  • I have a question. If i'd buy a harley benton randy rhoads model V (very cheap one, but looks killer and best out there), then it could sound good if i'd put maybe (lets say) EMG's or some real great active pickups on it (whatever is good for death metal)?

  • Right and now it sounds like a Les Paul. It sounds more like a vintage Tele if you just leave it be. I built one from scratch with 3 lipstick type neck PUs and a flat 50s type bridge PU. I put on an Bigsby model 5 as well. Best sounding guitar I ever had!!!! Look at the pic on my channel!

  • I bought the same 2 pickups and want to put them in my Tele. I read the instructions but it's my first try at doing this so I don't wanna ruin the pickups. Did you or do you have a diagram of how you wired them in? If you do, could you email the diagram to me or website? Thanks.

  • this video would have been better if you had done a comparison between the old pickups and the new pickups. not everyone has superb ears that can detect the nuance of every tone.

it seems to me you're just here to show off your new pickups.

  • Richie Kotzen set up. Nice!

  • I'v made a Tele with distortion and fuzz built in all operated by a switch the guitr :) I'm 14 by the way

  • @madhatter6661

Why in the world would would we want to know your age..?

  • amazing- great sounding pickups!

  • on electric guitars its all about pick ups, my advice by a cheap ass tele change the pick ups both of them etc and you can have a gibson les paul type sound in the palm of your hands simple!

  • this is th eguitar i have and wanna mod. ive so far filed the frets down and need a new jack plate anyone know of a good one that wont just shatter like the stock one does?

  • I wonder how they'd sound in a thinline?

  • Hi someone can help me i bought a fast track for my fender telecaster but i don't know how to build it :/ thanks

  • thats one of the best overdriven tones ive ever heard, that sounds nice.

  • PLEASE....show us what a CLEAN RHYTHM SOUND is like....or doesn't ANYONE play clean rhythm anymore?

  • See the response video.

  • Do you also have a "before" vid for comparison?

  • @izan31 not a video but an audio sample. Check the "information" box in this video

  • Nice !

  • Dude, Can I have tabs to that thing you played from 0:20 - 0:31?

    It sounded sweet

  • @haropro2 I don't have a tab at hand but it is basically:

    E5, Cm7, B/D#, G#m

  • how much did u spend on that guitar,, sounds cool.

  • @tarijafm USD$200 for the new pickups and may be USD$300 for the guitar

  • @fcatrin is that the stock bridge??? didnt really get a good look but if not what is it and where can I get on....typical tele bridges (3 saddle and 6) are a compete pain in the ass.

  • @fcatrin $300 for a squier tele affinity?!? i paid $100, and i know in guitar center they are $150.

  • @fcatrin $300 for a squier tele affinity?!? i paid $100, and i know in guitar center they are $150. do you have a suggestion on dimarzio's that match original american tele's? i want to change both pickups for my sq. tele as well

  • @JudoChoppethUrFace Hi man. This was a cool vid with those Dimarzios, of which I am a huge fan myself. I have a John 5 Tele with a Dimarzio Super Distortion Humbucker in the Bridge and a Dimarzio Area T Single Coil in the Neck. I can go from clean country and classical to heavy metal with a flick of a switch! If you want a cheap good guitar, why not go with the John 5 Squier? Its almost as good as the Tele version...

  • @tigetbunny82 i've already got my squier tele, and i've noticed the output is really low compared to my other electric, and i figured it would be cheaper to swap out the pickups than buy a whole new guitar altogether

  • @JudoChoppethUrFace Ah I see. But still, if you want a meaty pickup try a Super Distortion or Chopper. I can only imagine that lower grade Squier pickups have to be really weak

  • @tarijafm you can pick up a used squier tele affinity for around $120 - a great starter for a project guitar

  • great sound, great playing.. impressive vid :)

  • I put a set of hot rails in my tele and it is a beast. I am thinking of changing the neck pick up though. Hot rails caused to much bass in the neck and lead solo tones suffer a little.

  • Uhhh I hate those teles, we have one at school there horrible, I have a Squier Telecaster Standard Series and I love it its the best guitar I have ever played.

  • Anything else you changed on this guitar?

  • nothing elese

  • @grilguy not really, squie makes some of the worst guitars ever

  • @nymetsrock Yeah Squie do make some shitty guitars not be confused with Squier they make some of the best

  • @haropro2 you know what i meant

  • I love teles for all sorts of styles, not the least of which is blues. I have found that with some mods to include two humbuckers, they Respond, in my opinion, better than Les pauls. squires recently have become far more elaborate and well made in their construction.

  • @Nicolivls I would go ahead and buy a Mexican though;maybe and American; as the prices circa 1997 for a Mexican tele was $299. now they are...far too expensive. I love the guitar Man it sounds good to me and FAR better recorded than most other tracks in Youtube which sound recorded via $10 wal-mart mic.

Props to you for making it smooth, simple and elegant.

  • is that fiesta red? what color is that guitar? thanks man..

  • Metallic Red

  • Comment removed

  • are those strings 11s?

  • 0.09

  • the pickups cost more than the guitar lol i had affinity construction was bad but it was a nice sounding guitar, nut fell off pots were rubbish paint chipped easily

  • Not more but almost 70%

  • awesome sound man

  • The sound is awesome !!!

Especially the crunch distortion which is so difficult to have on cheap guitars...

But I would appreciate to hear a sample without the Behringer killer preamp !! ;-)

  • sound awesome

  • Like this better than the VirT

  • Hi! Billy Mays is here with some kick ass pickups!

  • @Justin011794 Omg i was just thinkig that!

  • @Justin011794 lol.. these sound great, so theyre like between a SC and a humbucker?

  • sounds very bluesy, the twang pickups

  • its a good guitar sound

but not for a tele i hae the same guitar and im a seasoned guitarist and perferd the stock pickups if your gunna rplace em just up grade to better tele fender pick ups

  • nice tone man

  • Awesome brother! I like the way you modified that Squire! Like Han Solo says "I made my own special modifications"!

  • i would never put demarzios on a tele id put semours. but i would put demarios on a strat

  • Holy shit, it's billy mays.

  • r.i.p. bill

  • its billy mays!

  • congratulations your beard if thick and hardy , tis a beautiful growth

  • ??? lol

  • haha nobhead

  • that crazy

  • waw those pickups work amazingly!!!

  • Sounds good man, really

  • how do you like that body? im thinking of putting a 1972 reissue fender tele neck on a squire body and then putting in nice pups

  • PLYWOOD!!!! Yah WANKER

Imagine how much better that PUP would sound in a REAL piece of timber.

  • the squire affinty series stratocaster / telecasters are made out of alder. The non-affinty are made out of basswood.

  • You sure about that?

And that goes for all of them, or just recent ones?

  • Haha no kidding!

  • now, let's hear it without the distortion.

  • holy crap that's bright.

  • painfully bright actually, the playing isn't shoddy or anything but that tone is just grating

  • Great vid! Great guitar playing.

  • you look like Billy Mays... lol.

    sweet tele

  • Dude! It is Billy Mays :D

  • strong man with plink gutar

    grrrrrrrrrrr hard

  • i'm pretty sure its red, but the camera turned it pinkish.

  • Awsome song!

  • You're the man, dog!

  • i put twang king pickups in my highway one tele upgrade, and i love these pickups, the neck pickup is bad ass

its got sap popal crack and the bridge pickup is not so peircing

  • i have a epiphone sg with really noisy pickups? I play classic rock and instrumental, lik Steve Vai, what would be some good pickups to look into?

  • GFS pickups. they are cheap and sound good, and if you buy something you don't like- well you didn't waste much money. look them up on google.

  • Dig the twang king man.. A lot. Thanks for the vid

  • Awesome Video. Short but Sweet! Thanks!

  • That's an amazing souning tele u got there, great playing by the way! I've got a seymour duncan in one of my tele's and it's the best THING on the planet.

    Keep Rockin!

  • Hello! First, I really like the first chords you played! The distortion and high gain and brightness makes it really shine!

I remember seeing this video more than a year ago and it made me want to buy a guitar!

I went with an Ibanez with EMG pickups. My first and only guitar

They don't sound bright or beautiful like your pickups...

Do you think you could help me? I have two humbucker pickups, unlike you...

Do you know DiMarzio humbuckers that sound close to that? The EMGs sound very dark...

  • thanks! a lot of people love that song.

Well your Ibanez with EMG is a completely different machine. It's very hard if not impossible to make it sound like this Telecaster.

(That's why I have both an Ibanez and this Telecaster)

  • Argh :P

Yeah, I understand... but, well, I have an RTG6EXFX with basswood body. Not mahogany one :P

And I don't like the EMGs... sorry to bother you with this...! But do you think you could give me some advice perhaps?

I'm sick of playing metal... so I'd like to change my pickups... to have a more natural sound, brighter sound :P

I don't have enough money for another guitar...

Do you know bright DiMarzio humbuckers? Maybe with a 5-way switcher? That I could play single coil maybe?

  • And I like that sound you have alot...!

If I could get away from that dull tone from the EMGs and have something closer to something more organic and natural and bright, I'd be happy I'm pretty sure.

But I don't know about the pickups... and the brands... I think the DiMarzios are natural sounding? Compared to EMGs 81/85? ...

    The EMGs sound digital..

Alot of people say EMGs sound sterile and I think they're right

Again, sorry to bother you with this... thank you for answering me very much

  • Sorry for posting again... my last post, I promise... but basically, is there an alternative to the Fast Track and Twang King for humbucker/not single coil pickups? Sorry if I sound stupid and out of place for asking all that...!

  • I really think that it will be hard to turn your guitar into another one just changing the pickups.

The freatboard wood has a lot to do with tone also. I've tried several Telecaster's in the store and basswood fretboards gave me another tone, it was when I tried this maple fretboard when I found the sound that I as looking for, even with the noisy pickups that came with this guitar.

  • Mine is in Rosewood, is it good?

Well tonight I just tried to play "twang", or played with the lower strings of the guitar... with a "twangy" preset, just like that and... surprise, it sounded kinda cool with an overdrive pedal... for once! It has to do with the way you play too

I'm kinda discovering stuff as I speak, so... but I was pleasantly surprised...!

But I still think the EMGs are not bright enough :P

But I'll put my 81 back in the bridge today and do some more testing tonight... :P

  • If you are sick of your sound, and tired of playing metal, I recommend you to sell your guitar and buy another like a Tele or Stratocaster. You can buy another guitar for metal later if you want to play that style again.

If you look at my videos you will see that I have an Ibanez just for that.

  • Well, I love the sound, it's clean but also dark, lacking the spark of the "twangy" pickups? :P

I read that active pickups are different, and EMGs are not good for blues :(

Your Ibanez sound darker than mine though, but I think there are some reverb on it, it sounds beautiful though and really fit what you are playing :)

I gotta stop putting pedals after pedals of distortion though, that's what I learned, but I still think the EMGs are not good for that style

    Thank you again!!!! Have fun!

  • EMG's are good for that style. Just use the neck pickup. You also have to have your amp setup right.

  • Mmhm... well, that's possible. I'll try to explore more then... I like it for Rock though, but I'm sure there are better suited pickups for the twangy kind of sound... but I guess it's not really possible to get the best of both worlds... lol ;P

Well, I'll post some things... and try to get some feedback, maybe it's just me after all...

  • There are some coil splitting pickups that let you change from humbucker to single coil by just pulling a knob. EMG's make these type of pickups. I think those would get you a good twangy sound.

  • Yes, I've read that!

And about that.. can you answer this?

Is every humbucker able to be coil tapped? Or used as a single coil? Like my EMG 81 or 85 for example (if I buy the coil tap knob thingy of course cause I don't have it on my guitar)?

Does a 5 way pickup switch do what a coil tap knob? Or are they different??? :S

    Thank you!

Also, I don't think I'll buy EMGs again... I'll try to go passive... what do you think?

  • it must have four conductor wires to split. most humbuckers do these days. but old gibson humbuckers and reproductions of old school humbuckers are only two conductor wire.

  • "Does a 5 way pickup switch do what a coil tap knob? Or are they different??? :S"

Oh wait... the 5 way switcher switch between pickups and the coil tap switch switch the humbucker into single coil... so you use the two to get different combinations... but can you toggle between the two single coil from an humbucker pickup with the coil tap knob thingy?

  • they rock for blues man! (assuming you are talking about the emg single coil tc or t set pickups of couse)

  • would you recommend fast track 2 on a fender jaguar? i want to changed my pick up bridge with fast track 2..and i want to get that full and ounchy tone..what do you think? hope for your some inputs..thanks

  • since when Bill Ward plays guitar? ;) *joke*

  • I bought the Fast Track for my Strat, but the output was to exesive for me, so, I installed the DM HS-3, this pickup is good for Death Metal, and you dont have to use a lot of distortion.

  • what is the name of the first tune you played

  • "Whispering". Check the video info

  • como odio a los chilenos vayanse a la reputisima madre que los remil pario...ojala se los trague el mar algun dia hijos de putaa

  • Quite nice -sounds like a top of the line guitar.

  • Hey bro, i got a tele similar to yours

I was at the guitar store ALL day today, trying to find this pickup you are using. Only in white

Just like yours, it looks SOOOO great, but i can only find it in black. (The dimarzio bridge pickup)

So where did u get yours?

    Reply is appreciated

  • Mine is in white. I found it in my country (Chile)

  • order them online!

  • i'd go with tonerider's vintage plus for a great tele sound, but thats an awsome metal tone!

  • that was "very good very good very goooood!!"

i like that combination of pickups, ive been wanting to change my Ibanez's pick ups with some Di Miarzio pick ups but i havent found a store that has the ones i want.

  • Very nice sound! On the other hand, i think that with the DiMarzio pick-ups on the telecaster you lose something... The sound is pretty nice, power and sustained... but it's not the telecaster sound... You risk to lose that tipical awesome full tone that makes the tele a special guitar...

  • I have the same guitar but different color the honey blonde with black pickguard. I want to change my pickups thanks for the great suggestion. I also want to change the bridge to the strings go through the body, I'm just not a fan of the 6 springs, maybe a 3 spring but I prefer through the body.

  • wow man now its METALLL my friend has this guitar he hasnt chanced anything and it sounds great and cuttin for metal and all that imagine what this would be like :)

im gettin the affinity strat im gna slap a george lynch lil screamer mini humbucker in the bridge or sumin likle that, i dont think theres anything wrong with the neck pickup tbh on the affinitys

  • good demonstration of both rhythm and lead playing through both pickups, do you have a video of you playing through the original pickups?

  • See the video info. There is an mp3 file with that

  • thanks :)

  • Its not a Fender copy, its made by the Fender company but in another country.

    Greets.

  • Squier's aren't that bad man... I have a Squier by Fender Affinty Strat. Sunburst. It is a really good if not the best Fender copy, i think. May I'm wrong!

  • are they hard to install yourself- if you have never done it?sounds great- I have same axe

  • wow man, the only thing keeping me from doing something like that is that I've heard the frets on those things are a killer.

  • The frets are small in comparison with the Jumbo Frets found in my Ibanez RG.

  • hey im thinking about getting this guitar to fool around no a bit

is there anything that you really suggest canging other then the pick ups?

  • strings, pickguard, maybe tuners. thats my experience with squier teles. the squier tuners are decent though.

  • is it worth the money to get this? im just looking for a third electric guitar, but this time, i want it specialized in Blues, Jazz n Rock n Roll... should i get the squier telecaster for $100-600 or Fender Telecaster for $1000-6000?

  • Let your ears be the judge. Some people can notice the difference and others not. I can't, except for some special editions like Richie Kotzen's Tele.
