It's not the dog that is the problem. It's the person that has the dog. Bad dog, bad owner one way or another. A puppy is loving and gentle and will stay that way if given love, trained properly and given a safe environment.

It's not the dog, it's the owner. I met a dog that was as big as a horse (a little hyperbole, but you know what I mean) and she was the most friendly calm dogs I have ever seen. I mean it could easily kill me, but she was so nice and friend to humans and other animals.

The problem with pits is you really have to know how to train them. If you don't, they can really hurt or kill someone. They have the strongest jaws of any dog by far, as I recently found out when one ripped my calf muscle. I don't think they should be banned, but owners should have to pass a dog training course or prove they are qualified to handle and train one and then get it registered like a firearm. Idiots who want a Pitbull as their first dog because they think its cool shouldn't get one.

Socialization is a major training tool for these dogs though. Dog aggression is expected with these dogs, they were bred for fighting.Generally you will not be able to train that out of them. I accept that as an owner of this breed. Their jaws are not stronger then any other dogs their size or larger. You need to check your facts
@lacyandjay I'll give you half of that. I was wrong that they have the strongest jaws of all dogs, but they are among the strongest. They point isn't against pits specifically, but any dog big enough to take down a grown man must be socialized and well trained. The dog that fucked up my leg permanently was not trained to attack. He wasn't trained at all. He seemed fine until he got spooked. Anyone getting a dog strong enough to take down an adult needs to put some time into training. That's all.
I used to be always scared of Pits for the longest time. I went to hang out with a friend that I hadn't seen in awhile that moved in with her boyfriend and he had a Pit. I was nervous at first but after awhile I figured out she was one of the most loving and playful dogs. I even now consider adopting a Pit.

Pits can be wonderful friends, and protectors, as well as perfect family members. The unfortunate thing, because these beauties have been so inbred, there's a brain chemical that causes lock-jaw. If a Pit bites, 6 times of 10 it couldn't let go if it tried. Because of this as well as abusive owners they become "Vicious Animals" Human beings have more capability to be evil and vicious than any "animal" in the world.
This is so true.. i just lost a pitbull to a court decision. My 20 month old duaghter was in the frount yard and so was Rocko(my 3yr old pit) i went inside to get her a sandwhich and somthing to drink and told Rocko.. "u beter watch her" and somone came in the yard and tryed to take her.. he latched onto the mans arm and wouldnt let go. My daughter is tramatised, as is the rest of the family. Rocko was put to sleep on January 13 at 1:15pm for saving my daughters life. He will always be LOVED!

It's not the dog, it's the owner. I met a dog that was as big as a horse (a little hyperbole, but you know what I mean) and she was the most friendly calm dogs I have ever seen. I mean it could easily kill me, but she was so nice and friend to humans and other animals.

i had pitbull one time nobody in my family was with it i was a small kid then and i walked to it. it did show anger but i didnt know so i walked to it and just smiled and sat down and was with the dog and suddenly all animals wont leave me alone >.<

The problem with pits is you really have to know how to train them. If you don't, they can really hurt or kill someone. They have the strongest jaws of any dog by far, as I recently found out when one ripped my calf muscle. I don't think they should be banned, but owners should have to pass a dog training course or prove they are qualified to handle and train one and then get it registered like a firearm. Idiots who want a Pitbull as their first dog because they think its cool shouldn't get one.

@ApoliticalApologist I dont like how you worded what you said. Pit bulls are gentle as long as they are not trained to be mean, they dont need to be trained to be nice. Socialization is a major training tool for these dogs though. Dog aggression is expected with these dogs, they were bred for fighting.Generally you will not be able to train that out of them. I accept that as an owner of this breed. Their jaws are not stronger then any other dogs their size or larger. You need to check your facts

@lacyandjay I'll give you half of that. I was wrong that they have the strongest jaws of all dogs, but they are among the strongest. They point isn't against pits specifically, but any dog big enough to take down a grown man must be socialized and well trained. The dog that fucked up my leg permanently was not trained to attack. He wasn't trained at all. He seemed fine until he got spooked. Anyone getting a dog strong enough to take down an adult needs to put some time into training. That's all.

I used to be always scared of Pits for the longest time. I went to hang out with a friend that I hadn't seen in awhile that moved in with her boyfriend and he had a Pit. I was nervous at first but after awhile I figured out she was one of the most loving and playful dogs. I even now consider adopting a Pit.

I love pitbulls. They are awesome. Dogs you can rough-house with are my favorites. I used to have a black lab pitbull, he was awesome. It's not the dog, it's the stupid ass owner. You have all these gangsters kicking their dogs and beating them up. No wonder those poor pits got mean! I agree, the stupid ass media really doomed these dogs. I remember one ad that shows this pitbull running at the camera in slow-motion, then jumping to "attack". That made me want to vomit.

my closest friend has 3 pits. lunk, lippy, and love bug. bug wont even fucking play rough. lippy does kill small animals. but they live in the middle of nowhere. and lunk is a big mother fucker and is happy as can be, and is only mean when threatened.......every pit i know is lovingand amazing.......so fuck the haterz of pits

He loves kids, and just wants to run and play with them. . He loves my cat too. She attacks him and bites his neck. He plays so gentle with her , they chase eachother all over the house. I hate pitbulls.
Last summer a pitbull was chasing my sister on her bike so my older brother ran over it with his truck.
Now whenever we see a pitbull loose without a leash we try to kill it so it won't attack some kid.
People need to take better care of their pets if they really care about them.

This is so true.. i just lost a pitbull to a court decision. My 20 month old duaghter was in the frount yard and so was Rocko(my 3yr old pit) i went inside to get her a sandwhich and somthing to drink and told Rocko.. "u beter watch her" and somone came in the yard and tryed to take her.. he latched onto the mans arm and wouldnt let go. My daughter is tramatised, as is the rest of the family. Rocko was put to sleep on January 13 at 1:15pm for saving my daughters life. He will always be LOVED!
